Pre tripping your truck? does anyone do this?

I was wondering what your pre tripping check list is, before the heavy hauling season starts or just every time you haul? what is your routine? i have an older truck with over 200,000 miles on it she still runs great but i dont use her at all over the winter except for a random hay run. Any tips on what to do or check before the season starts?

My partner is a mechanic and he goes over our truck and trailer before I leave the laneway EVERYTIME. He checks and tops up all fluid as well as makes sure I have extra in the truck. checks air pressure in all tires, check lights, he also check wheel bearings and what not once a month or if he hears anything funny. Of course you cant always avoid everything but he tries his best especially if I am alone.

I am married to a diesel mechanic, so he keeps our truck well maintained. He is religious about changing the oil, rotating tires, etc. Biggest thing is not letting a diesel sit too long without being driven. That can cause more damage than good.

My boyfriend is also a mechanic and he pre-trips the truck and trailer all the time for me. I believe he is going to DOT it this year due to them starting to crack down on stuff up here. I don't rodeo but thought we would air on the side of caution especially if you hit a lot of the big races.
