| My gelding is very light mouthed and doesn't require much bit to run in. He is also very flexible. However, when he turns he drops really low in his front end and it throws me forward. He is not dropping his inside shoulder - his whole front end drops evenly.
I do lots of hind end work/exercises on him to help him keep it underneath him but he still drops. Physically he is fine.
I need to find a bit that will give him more lift to keep his front end elevated but is not too harsh because he is very light mouthed. Right now he is in a Carol Goostree Simplicity Bit with a smooth snaffle mouthpiece.
Any suggestions?

Location: OH-IO | I have a mare thats real light mouthed, and gets VERY UPSET when you get on her face, but she is known to throw a shoulder down once in a while....I really like this bit....( I use B, but i also really like C just for working slower) Also here is the link http://lwbits.com/Ring-Bits.html

| You need to try the CM 44 bit. Think it is designed for just what you are talking about.

| I have a light mouthed filly (got kicked in the mouth so has some nerve issues) but I just switched her to this http://www.thetackstop.com/bit395M.htm and use a nylon chin strap (like a piece of paracord) and it really keeps her collected and not too bendy |

| I have a gelding that does this also. He is super light in the mouth and panicked when I used the Brittany pozzi short shank dog bone lifter. Someone suggested I try a Mullen mouth. I went with a wasson go round and he LOVES it. It's the first but he doesn't push on it or drop. I only use it for the barrels. If I'm just trail riding or ponying colts I use an o ring. |

Location: California | My mare was dropping on me hard on the second barrel. We put a loose tie down on her and it has helped a ton. It really helps keep her 'up' and she can't pull me down as bad. I have a similar problem where she would pull me forward so bad and I tend to be too forward anyway so it was getting ugly! My trainer has me do slow work and over exaggerate a lift straight up with both hands before going to my horn. That has also helped a lot. Also staying straight longer in my turn and not letting her turn when she wants, but when I tell her, helps keep her body in the right form longer. |

Anyone else?
I use the tender touch with no curb........love it on my mare and she is extremely light in the mouth.......this bit gives a little lift without being to much. |

Location: SW North Dakota | If it's shoulder lift you're wanting, I'd go with a bit that has more purchase, not shank. Something like an Ed Wright dog bone- short or medium shank. There are a bunch of them that work well for lift. If your horse is stiffer, you might like a chain or dog bone. If he's more noodle necked, try a mullen mouth. Shoot for the bit to be in the middle of the cheek- equal distance to purchase shank (headstall attachment/ rein attachment). |

Location: Borger, Tx | I use the Ed Wright Pretzel on both of mine that are light mouthed. I was scared to death when he told me to put them in it, but boy has it made a difference! |

I just did this too....switched my super light mare over to the pretzel thinking I would have a wreck, but it was just the opposite. She doesn't fight it at all and is so much more responsive. I would have NEVER thought it would have worked. |

| I am going to order the No hit bit to see how it works. My gelding is super picky, I cant have a curb or any shank at all. The draw bits really turn him off....I need something to lift his shoulder in the indoor pens where he cheats me across the pen. He is way flexible, even when I lift to get his nose his neck and shoulder dont follow. I thought I would try the bit...people are pretty curious about them right now. If I dont like it, I think it will be easy to turn over.

To the OP, put a curb chain on your simplicity and see if that helps.
