| Hi all, I am out in California and have never had issues keeping weight on a horse. I have an appendix gelding that is 4 and lost a bit of weight this winter. I am looking for a product to supplement and not make him hot. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Recently wormed, feeding the same hay. Please be positive here! Thanks! |

In reply to your post, the reason I had asked separately was because he is a younger horse. I am not sure what more I could post. I believe he is burning more calories staying warm this winter and I don't need to put a ton of weight on him. Thank you though, the other thread was helpful if I need to get my older horses going.

| How much of the renew gold do you feed? I am assuming the bag has weights and measurements etc. Just curious if it is similar to feeding Nutrena youth or comparable. I am interested in trying this product. We have a 90% alfalfa 10% orchard grass mix we are feeding, so I would rather not feed any additional alfalfa pellets. What are your thoughts on other additions such as oats/rolled corn?

| Hello fellow Californian. We can't get omnis cubes out here darn it!!!! I would love to have them. Maybe some day. Nothing will put weight on and a shine than stabilized rice bran!! Where are you located? I'm in Southern California. If you can get integrity rice bran nuggets they have a 1 year shelf life and are stabilized and fortified. My horses love it! |

Darn it! haha. We are in Northern Ca. And by northern, I mean an hour south of Oregon. Thank you for the info. Have you tried requesting it from a tractor supply store or your feed store? Is it just not something made in our neck of the woods? I have been contemplating the rice bran pellets as well. Thank you for the info! Let me know about the Omnis cubes! I would like to try and get them as well. |

Location: East Tennessee but who knows?! | Alfalfa & rice bran are the first things I try as most that I've put them on thrive on it. Then I have had some that won't touch alfalfa and will only eat beet pulp -- I have had a lot of horses get hot on beet pulp. Another option I use is Chaffhaye. It does seem to help them utilize their feed better.

| I would try the renew gold. Start out with 1 lb a day. Split into 2 feedings. I would also try Oxymax. It helps the stomach,lungs and joints. You won't need more than one supplement. Jen Berry is a rep on here. She is great to work with and can answer any questions. I tried the Curost and my horse still had ulcers, and when I had her injected, she was dry. Oxymax will last 60 days and you only need one supplement. And its 166 for 60 days, where Curost is 132 for a month and you have to buy more than 1 product . |
