Is anyone familiar with Kay Blanfords style of training barrel horses?
I'm currently looking at a horse that she trained but I'm not familiar with her style?

She is an amazing trainer. It is very simple lope to the barrel stop then lope around where she expects the horse to be in a run. Horses she has trained know the drill.

Just depends on how you ride, Kay has lots of nice horses under her belt

You can go on her website www.kayblandford.com. Get a lot of questions answered. She put the basics in all her horse, where they know their job. U sit at pocket, lift up inside rein and push hand forward to next. This horse ur are looking at, I don't know how long it's been from Kay, it should have the main basics still, but understand if another person is running , horse could have been changed if not using the same basics he was started with. And slow tuned on from time to time to keep them instilled.

If it hasn't been a long time since Kay had horse don't hesitate to call Kay she will be honest if she remember the horse, she is a horse trainer not a horse trader
She wants others to be able to ride behind her and win.

If its been awhile there is no way she can tell u how the horse is now.
I had someone call me I heard u rode this horse as a three - four year old was wondering what u thought, it has been over 10 years HUH, well he didn't , make a Futurity horse, he was immature etc. bout all I can tell u at 3-4 NO way would I know after 10 years and several owners later COMMON SENSE HERE PEOPLE
Best of Luck

This! Kay has done 2 horses for me. They came back knowing the job and easy to ride after her. Alittle too easy for me. I had to step up my game to stay with them but that was my issue not theirs. What I liked was I didn't get a lot of pomp and circumstance about how to ride them when they came back. She trained the horses in a simple easy way as described above. She is fair and honest and will tell you what her opinion is of your horse's skills/ability, so if you don't want to know don't ask. If I had questions after I got the horse home, I would contact her and she always responded. I wouldn't hesitate to send another her way.

I own a horse trained by Kay and he's probably the most supple , responsive and solid horse I've ever ridden. He knows his job WELL and always knows exactly where he is supposed to be. I've had to step my game up exponentially to do him justice. I'd buy another blanford trained horse any day of the week!

Ok thanks! I was just curious if she had a real different style or a hard to ride behind style? The gal said she doesn't fit his style so I was curious.... Yes I realize after time horses will change style with another rider... I was just curious on details of her training style! Thanks!
