| What is everyone's opinion on an adult running in a magic seat? I had a bad fall a few months ago and although I know it was nobody's fault but my own, and I feel like I learned from my mistake and can avoid it in the future, my confidence is still somewhat shaken. Would it necessarily be a bad thing to run in one until I gain my confidence back? |

I think you should do what you need to do to get your confidence back and not worry about if anyone else thinks it's "cool" or "ok" You've got this!

| Agreed. Do what makes you feel comfortable and safe. You can't run scared.
Personally I have visions of getting popped off the magic seat and landing on the side of the saddle and resticking....... but I am uncoordinated like that......I am a danger to myself on my own two feet. |

| Do what ever makes you more confident in your run. I have thought about it too, even bought one. I ended up in a Tammy fisher saddle and don't feel the need anymore but if I go back to a treed saddle, I'm breaking it out. Who cares what people think. Haters will always be haters |

| I use one on one horse. The others I ride without a Magic Seat. the one is a free runner and she hauls butt to the barrel then jams it in the ground as she gets to a barrel. |

Location: southeast Texas | I use one when running barrels. Have for years. It's for those times my horse makes an unexpected move. A friend of mine started wearing one when making a run. A few weeks ago, her horse made a good run. Coming out of the arena the mare saw something and did a quick move to the right. My friend las lurched to the side but was able to correct her seat. Had she have fallen off it would have not been pretty. As it is she was sore but safe. |

| I believe that if one is able-bodied and minded, they should strive to develop a strong seat without a magic seat. HOWEVER, if, for any reason, a rider doesn't feel comfortable or capable without one, there is no harm or shame in riding with one (: |

Location: Kaufman, TX | I bought a magic seat on Sunday to put on my saddle seat because my saddle felt slick. Last night in the turn at the second barrel had I not had it I would have taken a big fall. Now I did not wear the leg velcro I just had the neoprene on my saddle. It scared me and everyone else there. My bottom did not move it was my upper body. I say all of that to say. I am thankful I did not fall off. There would have been a time that what others think would have bothered me so much that I would not want to go. I will tell you that on Sunday when I am running towards the second barrel yes that near miss will be on my mind. I am going to be prepared and if that means a magic seat then so be it.
I pray for your confidence. I spent about 5 years trying to get through some confidence stuff. Hey last night was not good for the confidence either. I am determined to keep going keep praying and thank God I am blessed with the horse I have. |

This made me legitimately lol! To the OP, I agree with the others, confidence is crucial. And if you have to use a magic seat for a while til you gain your confidence back, and it works for YOU, then go for it! |
