| I must be the one taking the horrible pictures and posting all over facebook.... i have not been able to get one horse sold in almost a year!!!  Do ya'll just start giving them away at some point? I have stepped back and tried to re-evaluate however I can not come up with reasons why I am such a horrid sells person. |

Got a ton of inquiries and then they drop off the face of the earth. I know she might not fit your requirements but seriously can you just message me back that thanks but no thanks? It's annoying to me. |

| I have been doing a lot of shopping on facebook for a cowhorse here lately. I live in the north where there isn't much selection for that type of horse so everything I'm looking at would have to be purchased sight unseen and shipped. I have come across so many ads with crappy pictures or no videos. When asked for additional pictures or a video they say they will get one and then never send it. That tells me they really aren't motivated or organized to sell and make me question if they will be able to get things to be shipped. May be they think it's too much work and someone will buy without having to do that and may be some people do but I sure wont. If you really want to sell a horse take good pictures, have videos of what the horse can actually do right now posted at the same time you list.
Also, I really hate the pictures people take from below looking up at the horse. I'm not sure if they do it to make the horse look bigger or what but I pass by ones like that. Just take a decent picture standing up so I can see the entire horse and get a good feel of how everything ties together. |

OP, you are so right. One of the pages I follow is "barrel racing tack/horse swap". It is HORRIBLE!! The other day a girl had a "1D horse for sale, $1000". The video showed a horse that couldnt have been more than green broke, much less experience on the pattern as it went almost everywhere but around the barrel. A friend of mine posted a well bred started prospect the other day and the tire kicking and silly questions were almost too much. I realize there are a lot of young people on there. A lot of arguing takes place between the posters as well.  I would be very reluctant to post a horse for sale on that site for those reasons.
I follow that page too. My deal is these '1D horses' selling for cheap. As soon as I see the price all I can think is I wonder what's wrong with him. I just love how the seller says, I just don't have time for him, that's why he's priced low. Hmmmm red flag for me. |

I've had a hard time selling one of mine too. Even though secretly I hate to sell her, but I need the money. It bugs me when everyone comments on these ads where the pics are awful, horse looks bad and then I'm posting decent pics with full info and can barely get a few comments. |

Or "Selling because I don't have time for him" and then two sentences later "may consider trades for xyz horse". Ok, if you don't have time for the horse you're selling, how will you have time for the horse you're trading for? Really the only exception is if they're selling a young unbroke or green horse that needs lots of consistent riding, and want to trade it for a good, solid trail horse that is fine being ridden only occasionally. But if they're selling a "finished" horse because they "don't have time", but want to trade for another horse, that's a huge red flag. |

Actually, some people mean it. I price my horses very reasonably when I first get them. I figure if I can turn them and make a hundred or two, it's been a good week. However, if I keep them and do dental, shoeing, vet work, and a month of riding and tuning in them, they're not going to be that cheap. I had a lady that wanted a specific kind of horse for a set amount. I found her one and told her that price would be good until the end of February. She said she just couldn't make it here by then and told me she was going to be here the first weekend in March. I told her the price would be higher by then. She called me on the third of March and asked if she could still buy the horse for the price she wanted. I told her no, the price expired in February. She still came and bought a horse, but it was higher priced than what she originally wanted to pay. I had found out the horse was really way underpriced for what it was, and since she didn't put a deposit to hold it, and I really liked the horse, I wasn't going to let her have it for the lower price. Plus, I had more money in it by then. So that doesn't always work with every seller. Depends on how bad they want to sell it. Catch me on the right day, and they might be cheaper! lol |

Ive seen ads for 3D-4D barrel horses $20k. Really? I can make a 3D/4D barrel horse from a BLM mustang. I find it entertaining.
I was stupid and answered an ISO ad with a horse that runs 17's on a standard when he's out of shape. Top notch breeding and paid in full to Future Fortunes. I was told he was too slow and that she could run faster than that on her American Saddlebred.
 Not sure she knew what a standard pattern is. |

ISO ads obviously posted by high school or even middle school kids... There was one boy who posted in a calf roping page I swear once a week about things he was in search of. His profile picture was in his FFA get-up. So many people wasted their time replying... It was apparent he wasn't buying anything.
ISO posts on pages not specified to a certain area. "looking for this, must be within an hour of Somewherein, TX." Ummm can you not ask around? LOL why are you posting on the WORLD WIDE WEB??
People who make excuses in their ISO ads of why they can't spend "a lot" Oh, you're a college student? Let me reduce the price in half for you...WHAT?
Pretty much all ISO ads.... haha. I know they are harmless and I can just scroll past them, but goodness they drive me nuts!

Location: High heels in the air... | I haven't advertised mine yet and we don't always click. It IS because I travel for a living and cannot ride every day (hard to pack one in a suitcase!!!). I'm hit or miss with my horses so I understand when someone doesn't "click" with one. I once had a top horse and I couldn't win a dime on him yet everyone else could!! So, I always give the seller the benefit of the doubt. |

Location: Oklahoma | FB is FLOODED with horse ads and groups. It takes some serious shopping to find what you want after weeding through a lot of the junk that is out there. Then there are some people that just do not take the time to get good photos and info, so you can find a really nice one if you can look past all of the "clutter". Most of what I read in ads, I throw out and draw my own conclusions.
I haven't had a lot of luck on BHW since 2009 selling horses. Most have sold through FB or referral clients. The groups are getting more and more flooded though. Makes shopping more difficult.

| I just sold a nice filly on FB-I'm like others though- haven't sold anything off BHW in some time. But some of the FB ads are terrible! The pictures and the spelling-OMG the spelling!!!! |
