I bought a new horse and he was on a ton of supplements. I couldn't afford to keep him on everything so I took him to the vet and had blood work and had him checked for lameness and he checked him to see if he was a bleeder. The only thing he suggested keeping him on was Red Cell. He said their really wasn't a reason he just thought it was a good supplement for performance horses. I started having some problems with him attitude wise that I hadn't been having. He normally was a laid back gentle as can be horse and he got where he was, for lack of a better way of describing it, acting marish. He was kicking and bitting at people. Just being an over all jerk. I took him off the Red Cell and many many come to Jesus meeting later he's back to his normal sweet self. Now I've notice when I'm riding he coughs a lot especially warming up. Anyone ever had this happen? I never noticed it until now.

I am not sure the cough is related to the Red Cell...however my mare gets stable cough when kept inside for long periods, mostly due to weather. It would get worse during warm up. I started using Cough Free, which is by Farnam. It's an herbal supplement, pretty inexpensive. Might give it a try.
