Location: Pittsburg, Texas | I would say get him to a good equine dentist, feed him, and give him some time. Looking from the front I wonder about him having some kind of accident....broken jaw not healed correctly, but especially teeth. You can pm me and let me know where you are located. I can refer you to the best vet "EVER" and he has an equine dentist on staff. |

He is 14.2 and they are claiming he is 4years old. They sold him to the kill pen without his papers. We are trying to get them to see if he truly is 4. Â
Why does this happen time and again ... buy a $200 horse and then try to make a buck when the original owner sold them with no papers for a reason ...
If you are not horseman enough to look in this horses mouth to age it ... I feel sorry for the horse ...
Give this GRADE horse to some kid that would love to have their own horse and stop the nonsense ..
I don't know who your trying to direct your comments to.... but please read the whole add. This horse is STILL in Texas AT THE KILL PEN! He will be home this weekend. No one said anything about "not looking in his mouth" it's hard to do when we are in Wisconsin and he was bought sight unseen and he is in Texas. Plus papers don't mean anything. It would just be nice to know if he truly has them. We have been in contact with the original owners since he was bought. That's how the owner found out about the "paralysis".
And to everyone else, thank you for all your help and understanding. This little guy will have his forever home with my friend. We are just looking for any helpful information. Until he is home we can't do much about it. |

| Get him home, and get him on a good feed program. He doesn't look like he has had the best start in life. He is lucky your friend rescued him. |

Location: Ohio | Just a thought... I had one that had facial paralysis after being gelded (even though his head had padding when we laid him down, his halter still cut off blood supply to nerves). It's a very slow healing injury, took 14 months for him to regain full control over the left side of his mouth. He also became very heavy on that side when riding in a snaffle due to the corner of his mouth and lower cheek area being numb, he just couldn't feel the pressure as well. If the original owners were telling the truth than your horse may have had a similar injury at one time but is slowly recovering.
Im interested to see what you find when you get him home. Keep us updated!

Location: Texas | the pictures do not look like a horse with facial nerve paralysis. They have to have at least one of the following: drooping ear, drooping eyelid that may not be able to blink, muzzle deviation to the opposite side of the face
If the horse was laid down to be freeze branded, he could have had temporary facial nerve paralysis if the halter was left on his head and the buckle put pressure on the branch of the facial nerve that you can feel just under the skin. I guess the same could be said for a freeze brand on the jaw over that area.
People are crazy, and they very well could have believed that's why the horse acted a certain way and never gave him a fair chance. |
