Location: Somewhere around here | What would be the difference exactly putting a correction bit in a horse vs a softer swooping ported bit? For the sake of being a simple post, lets say both are medium ports with 7 inch shanks.
ETA: My horse works great in a correction bit. Took me years to finally figure out what he likes, I like, and something that works with both of us. He is just SLIGHTLY stiffer that I'd like in the correction bit and I was wondering if the swivel port would relieve some of that stiffness, since the bits are a lot a like but "break" and twist at different parts in the mouth.

Location: Phoenix | The joint on the rounded port is at the bottom, the joint on the square port is at the top. You'll get more shank action and movement on the square port. |

When I see the bits you listed, those are bits I would use for roping. You might try a Mike Beers ported chain bit. It will give you more bend. I really like the Ed Wright pretzel bit and it comes in a ported chain version also. (Prefer Ed to MB because it's lighter and horse gets less heavy on the front end).
L&W bits makes a ported lifter you might look into as well. |

I actually bought a ported chain last month and played a little bit with him in it but he gets too loosey goosey in it, which is a real shame cause it's a nice bit and could've swore it would be perfect.
Maybe putting a steel bit hobble on it might stiffen it up? Never heard of putting a steel bit hobble on a chain bit but what do I know lol  |

I can only find his pretzel bit online. Do you have a picture/link of it, or something like it?
Also, does anyone know how long the shank is on eds bit? I know molly's come in two different shank lengths but I'm pretty sure the shorter shank would be in our favor.

It may be a special order only. It used to be on the website years ago, but seems like when I was looking for it, I couldn't find it either. I can take a picture for you tonight. Same shank as the pretzel, just hinge port mouthpiece. |

| I have one like Herbies and think you would do best in a bit like that. It has enough flex you can keep them pretty supple in it; I would run a finished horse in it. I love the Pretzel and have soft hands, but wouldn't want to run one in it besides tuning. |
