I was wondering if anyone has had experience with owning one that you pull behind your 4 wheeler ? What brand you like or use, etc. My body is about to cave in with all the years of stall cleaning. I am not getting any younger. I am looking at spending the money to buy one & would like input if they are worth buying. Unfortunatly where I live is an area where no one wants to work, so that being said, I can't find help. Any advice / input would be appreciated on the manure spreaders.

Thank You

We love having one. Recommend the ones that are rhino lined to prevent it from rusting faster. Don't know what I'd do without one.

I have the newer spreader. Love it. I've had it at least 12 years or more. Great investment!!

Second the newerspreader. We have had ours many years. It is made from alunium and pulls behind the lawn tractor or large tractor. The only problem is the hay that the horses leave sometimes will clog it. It has an agitator bar but it still gets clogged at times.  No big problem. Fits down ally and easy to store and use.

I have one of those, I'm not sure how many stalls you have but I've noticed mine only hold about 2 stalls worth of poop. I have 8 stalls to clean and it's more of a pain to fill that up, drive over to the field.and spread it vs using my regular cart that I can fit all my manure in and make one trip to the manure pile with.

I'm not sure..but it's the John Lyons stamped name on it i believe. We can do 2 days worth of 8 stalls usually with ours. Ours is red in color, black rhino lined. I can try and find a photo of it online.

It looks like this but it's not the same brand and this one is missing the rhino lining.

We have ethe MS 25 I think, got it from the JD dealer.. They are entirely too expensive, for the job at hand... lol, seems the small ones are just as expensive as the larger pto driven. In any case, we had the same issue, so small only a few stalls fit, so I made sides taller and a back board and can now clean all the stalls at once, and then pull the back board when ready to spread. My only complaint is we have soft ground, and I want to look for more turf freindly tires, than the tall tractor tire mud grip narrow it has (makes ruts that are a pain to roll out).

I had no idea they made mini manure spreaders.  I'm going to have to check these out and then convince my husband we need one......

we have the 50 ft one from ABI. This is our 3rd manure spreader and by far the most heavy-duty one we've had. We have 8 horses and I can usually get 2 days worth of stalls in it before I have to dump. my dad built a little ramp to dump the wheelbarrows into it. You could drive it down the aisle way in our barn, except our stall doors swing out, so that makes it a little harder, so we just use large wheelbarrows and dump them into the spreader. We tow it with a 400cc quad, and never had problems. We did have one problem shortly after we bought it (driving out in the super bumpy mole-infested pasture too fast, the flip up shield broke on one side) but they were super quick about sending us a replacement at no charge, even though technically it was our fault that it broke.

We have a Loyal-Roth that was bought at TSC many years ago.   Have had to replace the feeder chain and put in a new bed floor.   The best way if you dont dump it everyday is put the manure in  plastic wheelbarrows until you spread.  We made the mistake of leaving it in the spreader and caused it to rust the chain and bed floor.

Thank You everyone for your comments. Looking like we are going to get the Newer Spreader. They are having a sale right now. We have an 8 stall barn, but I have 4 horse's in it. The smaller newer spreader will be good for me & we can pull it with our 4 wheeler. I'm excited to get one. My body screams at me every night & since my husband is down with his knee replacement surgery " he dumped wheelbarrows for me when he got home from work" I have been on over load with the horse's besides running erans , cooking, taking care of him, etc. I need my massage therapist & chiro :)

We bought our last one from TSC. It is aluminum so no rusting like the red one posted above. Our 4 wheeler pulls it great and it easily holds about 6 muck buckets of manure. So if you are cleaning daily and horses are only in at night it should hold your 8 stalls. But it would be close. We have had ours for about 7 or 8 years now and only replaced a few wear and tear type parts on it. It has been a great little spreader.

ok it says it is galvanized steel not aluminum but it is holding up WAY better then the little red rust bucket I have outback behind the barn.

I will second the ABI one w the rhino liner! My husband and I have gone through a few and I would spend your $$ right the first time!! The Newer spreader (sp?) would get clogged and was too small. We went through two of those (we are tough learners). Next we bought the TSC one and it was ok, but had lots of makeovers through the years w the chain, etc ., and it finally rusted out. So, now we have the ABI one. It has different settings for spreading and spreads leftover hay/straw easily and has a shield that protects your noggin from flying turds and rocks!! Love having a manure spreader; hate seeing a big ol stinky pile!!

I have four horses stalled and have room for them in my newer spreader, however, I can happily say my horses aren't very messy in the stalls. Also, they aren't in but during the night in the winter and during the day in the summer. Great investment.
