Location: Wonderful Wyoming | I had a stud founder, quit eating and drinking at the end thus ruining his kidneys. We had no idea he was foundering at first. He had the symptoms of an abscess within about 4 hrs of buying him. He was put down. |

Location: Colorado | My mare coliced and did this exact same thing. She would be good then have bad days and then go back to being good. I did whatever it took to keep her happy, eating and drinking. It was emotionally exhausting and physically as well. I spent many endless nights in the barn with her, researching things to do and crying alot. I would do it all over again in a heartbeat if I could. She held on for a year after the first initial blood work came back and then she let me know she was done fighting. I miss her everyday and still wish there was more I could have done for her. So I offer my prayers that yours has a great outcome <3 My vet and I knew what caused it from the beginning. He was on another call so the place I was boarding her at had their barn vet out and he ignored the stall sign and the owner of the barn and basically dosed her 4x the amount of banamine that her body required, She was a lightweight and never needed a full dose of anything. |

Location: Florida | From a human standpoint I have been hospitalized with kidney failure twice. I have learned that if I get muscle cramps or dark urine I start drinking lots of water, night and day. Also drink cranberry juice and I take magnesium pills. Try flavoring her water to get her to drink more and give her a magnesium supplement. Wet down her hay and maybe feed. Fluids are the cure. |

| Its been awhile since ive been on here, my apologies. Thank you all so much for the encouragement and kind thoughts. Its been 9 months and one week since her diagnosis (but who's counting). I have never seen a horse with so much drive in my life. She amazes me every day. We live in southern Montana and have had very cold weather this year, suppose to be -30 tonight. I figured this was going to be the determination on everything. If she could survive this she can make it though anything. To my amazement she is as fat and happy as ever and loves spending her time racing around the pasture with a new three year old I got to keep her company. I still believe that the main reason for her survival is the will to stay alive for me. I currently feed her local grass has since everything is covered with two feet of snow and add Stretegy Gx to her diet mostly because it gives her the extra push to gain weight in the cold as well as she loves it. I am also giving her alfalfa in moderation only about one flake on the nights where its negative degrease out just for extra warmth. I continue to think that she was just poisoned and has now rebooted her system due to the fact that she acts completely fine now but my vet assures me that she is only found a stable place the live for a while and that it will catch up to her. Either way she is happier than ever right now and makes me the luckiest person in the world as far as I am concerned. If anyone has any further suggestions please let me know! I promise to start checking this a lot more often and will post videos of new now! Thank you guys for everything.
