Location: Sweet Home Alabama | So I hope I don't sound so clueless about this. From what I've found on Google, prices of air ride suspension is anywhere from $600-$3,000. I'm really interested in getting it installed so would anyone mind enlightening me on the price and fees involved and what not? |

I thought the way everyone talked it should be a MUST in my next trailer. Why is it a pain? I'm so glad I'm reading this so I don't buy something that causes more grief than good. |

Location: Texas | It gets leaks in the air bags, there can pe problems with your air compressor, when you have a blowout it can cause problems, my tire was actually rubbing my fender when there wasn't air in the air ride. We took mine off and welded metal brackets. My horses still win no problems with my horses.

Location: Weatherford, TX | We purchased the air ride on the trailer when we bought new. We have a 32ft box. It does pull easier. We did have a 29ft box with no air ride and this trailer pulls easier. If you have a big trailer, it works; if not, then it's really not worth the money. As far as making it easier on the horses - maybe. It's hard to tell, because they have done well both ways. :) |

Location: Sweet Home Alabama | Thank yall for the input. I may look more into Soft Step mats |

Location: Texas | I have the soft steps. LOVE them. I have to clean my trailer more often because it can stay wet under the soft steps. I also still use shavings because it keeps my mats drier and their pee from splattering on them. I can tell a huge difference when I step in my trailer verses a friends that doesn't have them. I haver air bags on my truck and have considered adding to my trailer. Some swear by them and others that had bad experiences say it's not worth it. I have a 3 horse with 12 ft SW so I feel the soft steps are good enough. |

| they also have a hitch that has rubber bumpers to soften the ride they say you can leave a can of soda on a table and it will stay there. my farrier had one say made a big difference way his shoeing trailer hauled. |

Location: Roping pen | Air suspension adds a lot of fairly high maintenance items to your trailer. If you can do the maintenance and handle the issues, go for it. But you can not ignore the maintenance. They also take up quite a bit of space. Most are put in the manger storage compartment.
We have full air ride (not just air bags) on our truck. In 5 years and 70k miles, we have replaced both compressors, the bleed off valve, the water drain valve (2x), cleaned the dump valve terminals, replaced the low pressure warning light, and rerouted the air lines. You have to clean the air filter several times a year and on this truck, that is a job just to get to it.
Love the ride, just not the maintenance. |

Location: SW North Dakota | I just had double thick Equi-Flex flooring put in my trailer. I have a 8x34' box. We just hauled my son's 15 year old calf horse 2100 miles in 5 days (2 days of roping in between) and he hopped off the trailer and went to bucking and playing! There is zero maintenance with the Equi-Flex- just clean it and rinse it! It was about $1400. I'm sold! |

| Cold weather is also not a friend of air-ride. The bleeder valve froze up and we had to use a hairdryer for 10 mins to be able to air the trailer up/ lower to load/unload. I also added trucker's air anti freeze, but it didn't help. I notice the trailer bouncing into the truck more with air ride, and I feel when the horses jump around. It may not be that bad if the air hitch was installed as well. The trailer saver came with our trailer, but had a broken shock, and so I haven't fixed it, just been pulling normal. |
