Besides feet and ulcer (something is going on) What would make a horse not want to trot or lope? Horse came off track so he knows how to move. Going to vet but cant take for a couple weeks not in any pain just being in pasture. He will trot and lope lunging even with saddle but no weight in saddle as I am lunging. He wants to please just something is going on. I turned out for a year to get his feet right. Thanks

A little background: When I first got him he wouldnt move forward very well but he would trot and lope figured out that it was his feet. He was in trailer tied and he backed up before could get him untied and he just sat down and fell to the side (reverse load trailer with ramp) He fell so easy but after that he upset when ask to trot or lope Had him to a chiro few times and osteopathic Figured out feet was bad so went ahead and turned out for a year but now still doing and he looks awesome this year! Last year he lost a lot of weight why I also just turned out til I could line him out from being on the track. Just never have I ever had a horse that wouldnt even trot or lope no matter what is going on.

2nd question: Lets just say after lameness examine is done and nothing shows Would you do a bone scan? i know that it has to be a process of elimination but with all the technology we have just wondering which would be the best route to go and not get caught up on try this and try this and try this.

Before you do a bone scan, I would get spine x-rays and of course a good lameness exam.

A very good lameness exam. It sounds like its so drastic that it shouldn't be too difficult to figure out. I hope it screams an answer for you so you can get back to working him.

What about saddle fit IF the lameness exam shows nothing. I would insist on X-rays of his feet if that is what ya'll thought last year.

What kind of diet for PSSM? My horses get the omnis cubes (alfalfa, northern oats, flaxseed made into a cube) turned out 24/7 and prairie hay w
all he wants but he not eating much hay bc of grass When I first got him from the track he lost a lot of weight and I tried to feed what they was but it wasn't working and so I tried others and this has been the only thing that is putting weight back on him. He looks really good! And by fixing his feet taking that pain away has helped him also with the weight.
