Bought a race bred gelding to train for barrels, high withered...too high for my husband's saddle to fit well, hits him on withers, even with a good pad. I've heard of saddle shims...it would be a temporary fix, as we plan to sell him after 120-160 days, but do they work? and what brand, where to buy? other ideas?

More bootie than waist! Posts: 18425 Location: Riding Crackhead.	I bought the set of 2 from Martin/Classic Equine. In reality you could use a small hand towel folded or a piece of sheepskin.

Elite Veteran Posts: 629 Location: Roping pen	Wife uses a 3x8" piece of wool at times on one of her horses. Don't need if carrying a little weight, but if gets a little thinner, sure makes a difference.

Warmblood with Wings Posts: 27846 Location: Florida..	if you dont need one for long purpose then just fold a towel or something similar . it works fine and is cheaper.
