Location: Kansas | I have one, he ran until he was 6 and won over $77k on the track. He's huge, with a personality to match. He was very hot, and always wanted to run under saddle. After lots of slow trail riding, and round pen work, he's a dream and does everything asked of him. He also allows my daughter to harass him without ever blinking an eye.

Location: East Texas | I bought one for my daughter a yr and a half ago. Star was 14 at the time. Now Star is 16 yrs old and still running barrels. She has won money and gotten better with time. She's such a sweet mare too. She won a little over 6k on the track when she was a 2yr old. She comes from Ohio but now in Texas. She's currently for sale and trying to downsize our herd. Stars Last Chance is her JC name.

Location: In The Snow, AZ | This is my gelding. He's 6. Had four starts. Two 1st places. They decided to retire because his heart wasn't in it. He's been passed around and starved for a period of time. We've owned him for approx 8 months and have battled a lot with getting him to gain weight and chiropractic issues. I think he is FINALLY ready to get going again. Hoping to get him started on barrels by the end of the summer.

.....can anyone tell me how to get it in my actual post?

Location: Alberta, Canada | I have an OTTB out of Red and a Snowbound daughter. I've posted lots about her in the year and a half since I got her. She went from being off the track to a tough 1D horse in about 9 months. Such a gritty , neat little mare! She ran at her first CPRA rodeo over the weekend because my good mare (her big sister... also a Red daughter out of a QH mare) got hurt. She is definitely not rodeo ready but she tried hard!
She doesn't look like a TB, especially now since we got her nutrition straightened out! Pic is from about a week ago :)
ETA: She's not for the faint of heart however. She is alot of work. I do get alot of compliments on how she looks and works but she is a constant work in progress. She is EXACTLY what you think of when you think OTTB -- high energy, slightly ignorant and crazy smart. But I love her to death and feel very lucky to have her :)

| I claimed my boy about 2 years ago and ran him a few more times at the track. Very well bred and started off career decent! But running pretty much every 2 weeks for 2 years made for an extremely body sore horse. After a year off, we started barrel training! He's the best barrel horse I've ever had! He's always been a dead head, even at the track. I can go make a run, then put a kid on him to go trot the pattern and he wouldn't even pick up his bridle. He's such a sweet heart! Here's a couple pictures of Midas :)

Location: Oklahoma | I miss mine... He was a jumper and I bought him at 3. Sold him at 5 and he was given back to me at 14. He died at 16 from a heart attack. He was a cool horse and I still miss him.

I'm so jealous of your Red babies! I nearly bought one about 6 years ago and kick myself every day for not. I always thought he was very underrated and that Jill's program was top notch, and still is. |

Location: NE Texas | Here is my Grey OTTB - love her! She is a lot of work as she gets frazzled and you have to back off and let her settle before moving on. She is slow to trust, but once she does she will try and do anything you ask of her. I do a lot of Playdays and Barrels on her - but no so much on practicing - we sometimes go to the arena for slow work, but mostly pasture/trail riding and I do a lot of stopping and backing every time I stop just to enforce her use of the hind end. It's slow progress - doubt she will ever be a 1D horse - but we've slowly made our way into the 3D with a recent run. She NEVER runs out of energy and is the best on trails - her walk is springy and smooth and covers a lot of ground w/out feeling "choppy".
