Just wanted to share and also ask for suggestions! We have lots and lots of skinny rescue horses that we have put weight on and gotten healthy over the years, but I have never done weanling/yearling rescues. Any feed suggestions would be helpful. Triple Crown Senior and Complete were always my go to feeds for rescue horses.

?They were bathed and wormed with safe-guard yesterday. They look worse in person, with their wormy bellies!

Whisper is the bay with blaze and a white foot - 9 month old filly.
Wyatt is the bay with almost bald face and 3 white feet - 11 month old colt

?PICS AREN'T WORKING :(

Try DAC colt grower, I started my yearling on it and she looks great already. Otherwise, I'd feed a few flakes of alfalfa per feeding along with free choice hay.

I picked up a KP yearling last year and she was sickly and skinny when I got her.  I started her very, very slowly on grain and fed Seminole Grow Right.  I fed free choice pasture and hay (pasture was not the greatest that time of year) and then I also gave her partial flakes of peanut hay.  After a month she got picky about her hay and didn't want the peanut hay as much, so I soaked alfalfa cubes instead and gave them with her PM feeding.  I never did any added supplements, I thought the overall forage was great and the grain is well balanced nutrition for a baby.   Other than that, good vet and farrier care :-)

Three/four months later she looked like a new horse.  To this day she's still awfully short and has what seems like a million scars on her, but she's happy, healthy, and is turning into a nice little 2 yr old.

Good luck and good job on the rescue!

Thanks for rescuing these babies!! :) I would say keep good pasture or hay in front of them and I feed oats, maybe do a colt feed and then I dress mine with forco, lysine, lots of rice bran and flax seed, ever since I started feeding this way my horses all look amazing!! even my boarder horses that came in thin look awesome now.
