Hoping someone has some opinions for me, as I'm all out of ideas.
Last year my gelding started having issues turning the first barrel, which had been his best barrel in the past. Very stiff and reluctant to the right. Had hocks x-rayed and injected, thinking this was his issue, with no improvement. Suspected ulcers, no one in our area has a way to diagnose, so decided to treat for ulcers, as the more I read about them the more symptoms he had.
Treated with Ulcergard for 28 days, then weaned him off slowly, to possibly avoid a relapse. He has been running awesome and is super soft and relaxed to the right  for the past 2 months.
I took him to a barrel race yesterday, and he was back to being stiff, hard, and having a reluctant attitude. Could he be relapsing? I do give him a quarter tube of Ulcergard before I run at a barrel race, and gave it a little late yesterday,(About an hour before I ran) but could that be the reason?
What would you all do for a relapse? I can't afford to treat him again, and I would worry about too much omeprozole, since he just finished his treatment 2 months ago.
What would you all recommend??? PLEASE HELP!

First, I would try to figure out his triggers for developing ulcers. I admit this is the hardest part. MY horse's are processed feeds, teeth needing to be floated, internalizing his anxiety and I think stress from extreme humidity and heat. So, I treated him and changed his feed to alfalfa cubes and grass hay along with a little flax seed and a supplement that supports his digestive system plus something for his anxiety. When I haul him somewhere, I give a little Gastroade and that seems to be working.

Have you tried THE GastroPLUS? It works wonders and is safe to use long term. My horses are completely different and I can tell they are much more happy and comfortable. After you do the GastroPLUS you can put them on a special blend.

Check this website out...THIS PRODUCT IS WORTH A TRY! I feed this to all of my horses and have never really had problems with ulcers. She makes this supplement herself and she can go through the details with her or read over her website.
