| Psalm 1:1-6. Blessed is the man who walks not of the counsel of the ungodly, nor stands in the oath of sinners nor sits in the seat of the scornful; But his delight is in the law of The Lord, and in His law he meditates day and night. He shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water that brings forth its fruit in its season, whose leave also shall not wither; and whatever he does shall prosper.
The ungodly are not so, but are like the chaff which the wind drives away. Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor the sinners in the congregation of righteous. for The Lord knows the way of the rightous, But the way of the ungodly shall perish.
Psalm 1 has been used throughout time to point the way to a blessed life and to warn of impending dangers of divine judgement to the wayward. Blessed speaks of the blissful, happy , joyful life that is controlled not by circumstances but by the inner strength of our Creator. This Pslam stands as a faithful doorkeeper confronting those who would be in " the congregation of the righteous". Wisdom literature will unfold the seven characteristics of James 3:17 " But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy ."
If you enjoy the Psalm 1 passage , you should take the time to read the closest parable from prophet Jeremiah 17:5-8 God wants to bless His people and direct them into the life of faithfulness and fruitness. Then we can be not only recipients but channels of God's blessings, God blesses us in order to make us a blessing to others.
Psalm 1 reminds us that there is a narrow road and a broad road. Take note at at the triplets in verse 1 " walks" " stands", " sits" counsel" path" seat" and then ungodly , sinners" scornful".
Remember there are no blow outs in the Christian life, only slow leaks.
Taking heed of these truths, will lead into right principles, right practice, and right partnerships. Follow theses truths and be blessed.
The only mistake in life is not to risk making one. If you never use your gifts for God you will life on interred talents. God lavished you with strengths in this life and promise of the next. Go out on a limb, He won't let you fall . Take a big risk, He won't let you fail. Where your best gifts serve the higher purpose, making a big deal out of God.
For it is WITH God all things are possible
