Curious about others' experiences with SI injections.

I'm scratching my head over here and hearing/reading conflicting thoughts.

When you inject the SI, is it wise to use hyaluronic acid (HA)? One line of thinking is that the SI doesn't have a joint capsule therefore the HA wouldn't stay in the joint and do it's work.

Do you use just steroids for the SI? Or HA?

On a similar note, I have one vet saying Adequan would help SI problems and another saying it won't?

We used just steroid. Yes it has helped. I was told by a very good vet that it was clinically proven only 10-20% of meds like Adaquen actually make it to the back end.

RVI works nicely, injection is my second step if RVI doesn't help.

Make sure stifles, hocks, front feet, spine, and neck are okay, as these can cause issues. My kissing spine horse had major damage done to his SI compensating.

The vet that injected our horses SI did say that if the injections do t work, the only other thing she's found that does help is stem cell injection which gets pretty pricy.

Can you still get RVI?

I think it's back ordered into oblivion, BUT my vet has some. Just finished a vial on my gelding. That stuff works so great!

I will call my vet on Monday, no one has it in stock to order online.  RVI is awesome for race horses because it works and it won't test!  There is no expiration date on the bottles, how long does it stay good under refirgeration?

What is RVI and what does it do?

I'm short on time, but here's a good link:
