Vertebral Compression Fractures - Human

A friend of mine was recently diagnosed with fractures in her T3, T4 and T5 due to a horse related accident. They are putting her in a brace for 12 weeks and she is limited to light activity for 6 months. My question is, will this affect her being able to barrel race? The doctor has told her that she may not be able to go back to barrel racing, which I personally think seems slightly pessimistic. Any thoughts? Maybe some success stories?

i broke my back and neck.surgery three times.but mine were cervical and lumbar.I wouldn't say the doctor is being pessimistic yet.I believe it's a good thing for him to be straight up .Sometimes people don't follow doctors orders and they wonder why things went wrong or didn't turn out so good. With a fracture of the T5 alone she's lucky she's not paralyzed.now add the other two and everything is worse. But saying that, she needs to try to be positive but strict through her recovery.the accident alone will send the body into depression so right now be the best friend you can be.I pray she recovers fully and can get back to riding soon!

If she follows the doctors order and behaves herself I would see what happens in the 6 months that she needs to take it easy, prayers that she will be back to doing what she loves and get her on a good supplement
