Can You Hear Me Now? Location: When you hit the middle of nowhere .. Keep driving	Long story short I bought another one 2 days ago and she's skinny. I saw her and knew I wouldn't leave without getting her out. The old owner told me he hadn't wormed her in 2+ years, etc and basically did nothing when he saw her going down. I wormed her with safeguard when she got off the trailer and was wondering if people would switch the wormer to something else in two weeks for a second dose or stay with safeguard again?? Vet is coming out this week to preggo check her (poor thing might be bred to her son) and do a full work up; and I'm keeping her at a different farm away from my herd until I figure out what the issues are if its anything but neglect and could be contagious. Lots of grass hay and slowly adding feed... Sometimes I hate people. She was on a decent pasture so she wasn't starved or not used to food. Edited by ndiehl 2016-10-06 5:17 PM

She's a doll and I had went to see her hoping I could scoop her up to maybe try working her on the pattern some for fun again for a year or two before I breed her to my stud. I didn't know she was in that bad of shape before I went. She throws NICE babies; I know of them all and she was a pretty good barrel and a kick butt pole horse 10 years ago when a friend had her. She's 18 so it's only going to be dependent on how she feels. I'm happy with having her as just a trail horse and maybe get one foal in the future if need be she deserves a soft landing.

I hope I get some weight on this girl slow and steady until she foals. I've got the milk replacer on standby to help her out feeding. Eta: I got some pics but they are too big to post. I get a little crazy when I see people starving horses down to nothing for lack of care or food ... grrrrrrrrrr No more safeguard or panacur wormer use this one with the P word medicines in it ... it works .... all 3 types of round worms ... give her an entire tube. and in two weeks give her a tube of ivermectin ... you want to get her worm free before baby arrives .... I like your going slow on your feeding program ... too many horses croak from being overfed when people try to save them!! It will take a year to get the bloom you want back on her so just take it easy and do the basic maintenance items, feet, teeth, a shot of Triple EFT to boost these diseases that give immunity ... forget all the others .. Whole oats will make her chew to add saliva to her digestive system; some alfalfa with the oats is the perfect horse and baby feed ... adding 20% chopped corn in the future will help with weight gain and add to the shine in her coat ... If you have never used ADM GroStrong Minerals ... now is the time to start .. you will be amazed how all of your horses will look using this ... a handful every other day in their feed ... buy the loose mineral not the pelleted one .... 50#'s for ~$40 ... no other supplements needed ..
