I love this feed but I have 2 horses that quit eating it....what are everyone's thoughts on mixing a little bit of Omelene 200 with it.  I used to only feed Omelene but really like the concept behind the Renew Gold.
THANKS

I have my old horse on the RG mixed with Om.  He is 33 and needed some extra incentive to eat.  I also added Manna Pro Max E Glo for him.

Question, why is everyone mixing oats w/ their RG?

Most people don't add anything to Renew Gold. If you choose to, keep the added amount low enough that you are not feeding more than two pounds of concentrate at a single feeding. This keeps the added concentrate from disrupting the proper function of the hind gut. Horses that are on a sweet feed get pretty hooked on the sugar taste and are the hardest to convert. They almost always come around, but it may take a while. The oats deal started with Sherry Cervi adding one pound per day to Stingrays Renew Gold diet to get her slightly more on the muscle. She did that for about six months, four years ago, and then went back to just Renew Gold alone when she realized that her mare was better without the oats. The word got out that she was doing that, so a lot of others have tried it. If your horse is too laid back, you can bump the blood sugar level up that way. If you do, remember to keep the amount very low.

I do it because the amount of RG you're supposed to feed looks TEENY to me and I just think my mare needed more feed. I'm sure she'd be fine on just the RG - it's just my preference.

The same reason I add oats to it.
One mare has ulcer issues with oats, so she only gets alfalfa pellets with the RN, another just flat does not like oats, so same for her. Since we live on sugar sand, I feed Beet Pulp a few days every month with it to aid in sand passing through, and I use beet pulp for those getting supplements.

Interestingly, all the horses nose the oats and alfalfa pellets aside so they can eat the Renew Gold first.  They are also on coastal pasture and alfalfa hay.
