I've heard it is as good if not better than alfalfa. Likes? Dislikes? Experiences?

There is a difference in peanut hay and perennial peanut hay. Perennial peanut hay where I live is better in quality than the alfalfa hay we can get. Don't waste your money/time on just peanut hay.

Alfalfa around here is way more stems than leaves, not green in color and currently $25 for roughly a 50# bale.

Perennial peanut hay is very similar in nutritional value to alfalfa, it's fresh because I can pick it up out of the farmer's field, it's super leafy and I am paying $8 for approx a 60-70# bale.

I lived in FL briefly with a family who grew peanut hay. It was amazing. I'm from KS, so for me it was comperable to Alfalfa because it's a legume. The horses I was around LOVED the peanut hay. They would get fat very quickly on it. The mare I took with me to FL loved it, but I limited the amount I fed her (most horses were limited on the amount they receieved). Awesome stuff! I believe the University of Florida has done some research/lab testing on the hay. They may have data. All I can say is if we had better access in Kansas, I'd buy it in heart beat!

I feed/have fed perinneal peanut hay.  We feed it like alfalfa.  That being said this year, we did not buy it.  Why?, becauess it is messy to deal with and my husband was tired of it.  I can get bales of alfalfa from AZ for $18/bale and it is not as messy.  You never want to feed peanut hay as it is full of dirt.

The benefits are the same as alfalfa, it is just messier.
