Location: Probably On the Road to the Next Barrel Race! | Had my horse's hocks n stifles injected first of August. She still would not turn first barrel. Vet said yup, need to reinject right stifle. Horse turns better, but still kind of loops on first barrel. She drops and rates real well, but canNOt finish turn. It's not chiropractic. It's not a training issue, horse is solid 1D, and very honest. What am I missing, or what is the VET missing? I know very little about stifles...opinions and education welcome... |

| if injections aren't working exray and ultrasounds - I had a friend who had gone to a few different really good vets because she knew they were missing something - always just wanted to inject and get adjusted finally found out he had a cracked hock- thank God she knew he wasn't right no matter what the vets said and she persisited in finding the problem- her boy is doing great now but knowing exactely what your dealing with is the key - don't give up , pray for God to show you exactly what to look at and give the vet wisdom- God is well able to get you the answer- God Bless |

Location: Golden Gulf Coast of Texas | X-rays and Ultrasound won't show inside the joint. If those tests are clean you will have to scope to make sure the whole joint is clean. Mine ended up with cartilage damage and fracture. I tried everything and nothing worked and kept telling vets that I knew something was wrong with that stifle and the first 4 vets said no because X-rays and Ultrasound were clean. Finally a vet wanted to scope and we found it. Good luck and hope u find your problem. |

Location: MS | My colt kept getting fluid on his right stifle. He didn't want to turn. We finally figured out it was caused by a bone spur on his left front ankle.
His front being sore caused him to over compensate his back and made his stifles sore.
We injected the ankle and now his stifle is great.
Check his front legs. |

| Check the whorl bone. It can be mistaken for stifle issues. |

Location: OH | Dealing with this right now----had to scope to find the tear in the Meniscus in the Stifle. Fixed the tear and went with the IRAP treatment---best case scenario for our mare is she will be off a year.

| I have one that would still turn and run but there was a new hesitation in the turn and he didn't feel quite right. Tried injections. Did bone scan. Did x-ray and ultrasound. Found tiny chip in stifle but not in joint and still can't get whatever the problem is fixed. Going to try os phos next. Good luck. |

funny you should say that...I texted my vet this morning, and told him I trusted him, and would be praying for God to give him wisdom and discernment. That was before I saw this post. Thank you. And, I don't normally talk to my vet that way! God is good...we will get it figured out, and I want to thank everybody who posted, it all helps SO much!!! I just love the people on this forum!! |

| Check the front end. And I always inject in pairs. My horse has change in Right Hind which makes her struggle more to the left because the right is the driving leg in a turn. My horse also has left front knee problems from right hind compensation (we suspect). Hope this insight helps. |

| Mine would not turn to the left, it was his rear suspensory and took lots of $$ and many vet visits to find. |

Yep. This was mine too. Horrible case of kissing spine.
He also ended up with SI damage too and was ultimately the cause of his retirement.
Definitely get his back checked out. |

Location: Probably On the Road to the Next Barrel Race! | Just FYI...my horse showed to be very sore on left stifle when flexed, so that's what we did, injected that stifle. We will have to wait and see...thanks to all of you who posted :) |

| My vet always injects both sides. A lot of times the opposite hock will be sore
