You can see all the rough bony growth of arthritis around the pastern area in front of her foot.

IRunOnFaith - 2016-11-08 10:38 AM Waiting for details OP....

Also going to ride my turkey until the OP replies with more info...
I've had a strange special case broodmare so been on the road a lot. Sorry it took me so long to reply back.

I have a broodmare I bought OTT and she came up lame. She has a piece of a needle broke off and floating around/destroying the cartilage in her coffin joint.
Oh crud, that sounds serious, is she going to be ok? What can you do for something like that?
Well it's a pretty big mess. She is only 4. Looks like a coffin joint injection done by an idiot. She was on and off lame in pasture. We never could find a hair out of place and when I brought her in during a more serious bout of lameness, she had a mild founder 2 days later. We got her through that without any lasting damage and had her healed up well enough to make a long bumpy track to the local ranch vet. She took x rays and that is when we saw it. She wouldn't touch it so I scheduled with the big surgical vet and it took 10 days to get in. It was amazing to see the x rays and see how much it moved in that time. x rays showed how destroyed the cartilege is and less than 10% chance of getting the needle out with a $2000+ surgery. Even with it out, he wants to fuse the joint due to the arthritis. So we opted to wait for her to foal in May and we'll fuse the joint then. Her "good" hoof cracked from bearing the pressure. So today my super cool vet welded a washer to a shoe to put pressure against the crack where it needs to be.
Why in the he** would someone do this... That poor mare, so what kind of pain management are you going to keep her on? And how would they get that broken needle out? Sorry for the questions but I have never heard of this happening, I'm sure it does happen quite a bit, but this is the first for me. prayers for that girl,  And its so great when you have a great caring Vet
She's on Previcox and it is a WONDERFUL drug. I had no idea. We are leaving the needle since it situated itself under the joint. Needle is roughly 1/4 of an inch and the space it is in is about needle width so it is most likely done moving around and so every step pinches that needle piece between her lower coffin bone joints. We were hoping the surgery where they insert a deal with a camera and another incision for the tool to pinch it, but where it is is impossible to get to now.  When we fuse, it will just grow bone around the needle and she won't feel it anymore.
Shes such a lucky girl that someone like you bought her, Is she one of the horses that you bought here?

no she raced in FL and? and then was in barrel training with a lady in AR. I bought her and had her shipped up sight unseen. She needed a good dose of dewormer and some mineral, but she has absolutely the best disposition of any horse I have ever been around. She is so so kind and just so happy. I'd be a miserable B if I had something like that in my shoe much less my joint. She's by Coronas Leaving You and out of a Stoli daughter. Her 2nd dam produced Champion Double Down Special.

GoMistyGo - 2016-11-08 8:22 AM How much is the 80 dose and 160 dose bag?

Thank you.
80 dose of Muscle Mass is $65 shipped and 160 scoop is $115 shipped

80 of Perf is $55 shipped and 160 scoop is $90 shipped

What is the difference between Muscle Mass and Perf?
Why would someone choose one over the other when both can have blends added in?
(Just trying to determine the difference and which would be the best option for our horses

Muscle Mass is made of the same ingredients as the Performance Formula, and then they add ingredients to build lean muscle. If you have a really easy keeper and doesn't need any help filling in the topline, then Performance Formula is a good way to go.

I have had customers add it in the past. We do have an actual EPM formula that is great to use after your vet advised treatment.

You can keep feeding THE. Most feed either am or pm and then treat the opposite.

Which of the joint blends do you prefer, particularly in a horse without arthritis but is getting in their teens? More like something to keep their joints going healthily and strong?

Most competition horses or any horse that is ridden regular and in their teens, is going to have some bone changes in their joints due to arthritis. They may not show any discomfort, but I would stick with the joint, arthritis & Inflammation blend. To cover all bases add the GluChon.

I get THE performance with bleeder breather cough. I stopped feeding it last winter and immediately noticed an increase in my geildings coughing. I choose performance because he is plenty big and it's cheaper lol he does well on it! I ordered the 160 scoop bag last time it was on sale...it's going to last forever! Shipping is always super fast! Krystal is always great to respond when I need to order.

Do you find the Ulcer Prevent blend effective as well? I feel like I'm having a few issues in that regard too (I'm going to try a tube of Ulcergard or whatever they call it for a few days, see if that helps, I don't know if what they call it in my area). I don't even compete hard! LOL.  Thanks and sorry for all the questions.

Ask any questions you have
I treat for ulcers first and then keep them on the ulcer prevent blend. It does wonders for most horses.
