What are my options for compression therapy? Have a horse with a suspensory injury and have been told we need to look at this for healing/maintenance.

What did your vet recommend doing? The only things that I have done is a standing wrap and also have used an Ice Horse Machine that uses both compression and continuous cooling while you are using the system. I haven't dealt with a suspensory injury, but I am dealing with a hock injury right now. With a compression wrap overnight, it really helps reduce his swelling, but then it comes back up when it is unwrapped. I've tried a few different things including PHT products and an occassional sweat wrap, but am still currently in this battle of up and down.

I should add we are rehabbing an old injury the horse incurred around a year and a half ago. We had to change his shoeing, the guy shoeing him
(before he was sent to us
) let his heel get too low and too much toe. He was on stall rest with light turn out time for two months. Now we are mainly walking under saddle. He never had swelling, just gimped when traveling. The idea of compression therapy actually came from two different friends that have had horses with suspensory injuries. We only use it for two hours a day as that is what both of them said they did, and no they do not know each other. One of them has allowed us to borrow a set of basic compression boots they used previously and they work okay if we add vet wrap around the outside of it.
