kmcsunshine - 2016-11-14 8:20 AM  Equipoise?

this is probably the right answer

yep, or some other artificial help.

Yes, Equipoise is a Steroid and will definitely do that.  Horrific long term effects though, hardly worth it.  Bad short-term effects sometimes too.

I am always surprised by people who claim that some people who have beautiful fit horses are getting help from "chemicals".  The knowledge base has gotten so much better as far as feeding, exercise, gastric care, a good efficient worming program, how to decrease "stress" while hauling, when & when not to use supplements, minerals etc.....

There an abundance of info out there.  I know I pick so many people's brain that I can be a nuisance.....

I totally agree with you, the knowledge base is so much broader and the information is easily attainable.  Many of these "incredible looking horses" may be a product of the awesome feeding/care programs.  That said, we all know different.  I have friends and aquaintances that use steroids and other dangerous products to keep their horses winning.  Ugly truth - many very nice people see nothing wrong with steroid or other dangerous drug use for their horses.   I'd love to see the barrel horse industry take a stand and drug test more to slow/stop the abuse.
