| My post got alerted as spam and was deleted :(
I am new here for posting..but a long time follower and couldn't find a thread on people having their horses hair testing done.
I have a horse i'm having issues with, and having a hard time figuring her out. It was recommended to me to have her hair tested by someone who swears by it. Was wondering if anyone else had had this done? If so, pros/cons/helpful, did it help you?
He specifically mentioned uckele testing, but wondering if there were other kinds that anyone else had used?
Any info is appreciated. And hello to everyone! |

| Someone else had commented prior to my previous post getting removed and stated that she had done the testing and it "identified the issue" but she had to find her own means of treating the issue.. I responded and asked her if she was previously aware of the issue prior to testing and I believe my post was removed before she had a chance to respond or before she read..
It is basically a mineral test the way I understand. Open to corrections if I am wrong. They test the horses hair and it is suppose to tell what minerals they are deficient on, or toxic on and you are suppose to be able to supplement in order to nuteralize their systems.

Location: CTX | Sorry, I might be the one that got it deleted. I saw another one that was spam (not your post) and yours felt like the same thing. So I apologize.
Now, to your question.
I did the horse hair analysis and it showed that my horse was off the charts in his minerals. So I started him on the supplements and retested after a year. Much to my surprise the levels were even higher..... Needles to say I am not giving the supplements anymore. The way I see it, it only shows what was in their body a while back. By the time it shows up in the hair it might be out of their system already. I never saw a change in my boy when I started the supplements, or when I stopped giving them. The reason I did it was because I won a free analysis. My boy never had a problem that I wanted to addressed. So I wasted time and money. Maybe it works for other people, but it is not something I will ever do again. |

No problem on getting it deleted! Lol! It happens..
The whole "it shows what was in their body a while back" was sort of what I was thinking.. and also why I was wondering about if anyone had any personal experiences with it.. good or bad! However, on the same note.. if a horse started acting strangely and is continuously acting that way for months then wondering if it would be accurate for people having specific issues.. whereas you had no real reasoning behind testing as far as your horses behavior etc, if that makes sense?
I appreciate your feedback.

Excited to see what you hear.. what company did you send through? And your reasoning for testing if you don't mind me asking? |

Location: Texas | I did it because I have a couple friends that had "amazing" results. It's called Simply Equine. They do recommend & sell herbs. My horse has a tendency to act like he has ulcers, but it's very subtle most of the time. Here lately, it's been more obvious. Also, when it was hot, he coughed every ride 4-5 times each warm up. Big deep cough. Vet says dust & allergies. Not a big deal. Since it has cooled off, he doesn't do it. I suspect he has a weak immune system. So I hope to address these 2 issues & anything else I don't know about. I sent hair in with no background info on my horse. Totally blind. I am just curious what the results might say. Sounds like voodoo to me but what do I know?.... I am keeping an open mind. |
