Agree. When I was shopping I couldn't afford the top of the line trailers and the reviews were really spotty on the lower end trailers in my price range but Sundowner had some really good reviews and was affordable. I now own one and absolutely love it.  |

This always gets me thinking... my sister was along at a Horse Expo and asked what the difference was in the different brand horse trailers. I said they are kind of like cars - over here are the Mercedes and BMW's (Platinum, 4 Stars) and over here are the Fords and Chevy's (Lakota Sundowner), then you have the Kia's, Saturn's, etc. Not everyone has a need for the Mercedes and BMW's - even if they are used. I could have bought an 8 year old BMW, but I opted for a new Chevy. And it is a great car.
I myself held out and bought a used 4 Star as my current trailer. It is nice. But, for the next one I think I'm going to go for a newer Lakota or Cimarron. They are nice, too. Not everyone is using their rig the same way and as long as they are maintained, I believe the mid-range trailers are very nice and will hold well. |

| We were given my MIL's Sundowner as a wedding gift, (she was getting out of horses at the time) - although it isn't a high end brand, it has been a good trailer for us so far. I know people have had their horror stories, but ours has held up and its a 2008.
My family had a featherlite we purchased brand new in 2004 - no issues with it other than window latches, door latches, etc. Structure wise it has been great. No leaks, etc.
Cimmaron/CM is a VERY nice brand if you can get one in your price range. My husband and I bought one as our first trailer together and I love that thing, I am bummed to sell it but we don't need two trailers. |

This is absolutely true. If you are only hauling 60 miles down the road a couple times a month, you sure as heck don't need a high end trailer. Taking care of and keeping up on maintenance prevents most headaches. |

| Cimarron's are great trailers, I don't consider them a mid line trailer. My husband did a ton of research and we settled on Cimmaron's after considering 4 star, platinum's, elite, it's built well just like they are. He loved the floors, welds, strong windows. |

| I don't either. We have one and we love it. I just offered it as an option, because they are considerably cheaper than Platinums and Elites, or at least from what I have seen... maybe not new, I have never shopped for a brand new trailer. |

I'm definitely not denying that. I'm partial to a brand as I now work for them, and I've seen how we build ours compared to the other brands out there. I've had a sooner and it was a great trailer, but it was also a 1997 model. Knowing the structure of the trailers now, I cringe at how many are made. |

I agree!
People don't understand when your drop windows are coming open and falling down along with latches not staying shut...It's usually because the frame is bending and flexing.
