| Looking to see if anyone has had one of these trucks. Found a low mileage one in excellent shape. What was the fuel mileage and how much power did it have? |

Location: Southern Indiana | My 2003 gets 10-12...most typically 11.5 pulling . Doesn't matter if it's my 2 horse bp or 4h w/ 10 ft LQ loaded down. I would think an 05 should get similar? |

Location: Four Corners Colorado | I have a 2006 gmc 3500 Duramax all stock. I get 17-18 hwy without a trailer and. Around 15-16 with a trailer. Keep your foot out of it or you'll get terrible milage. |

| I have an '08 and get mid to high teens without a trailer and low teens/high singles with. Struggle to keep my foot out of it though, haha. It has plenty of power for normal driving. I do find that on some of the roads we have here with rolling hills I'm on the floor to keep it at speed.
We want to do an emissions delete and chip it like our '07 3/4T duramax - that truck sh*ts and gets. Will pull the same trailer as the '08 dually and you'll never find the floorboard. |

Location: 100 miles from Nowhere, AR | I had one that's a farm truck now. It got 12-13 mpg pulling a loaded trailer that was 7500 empty, and 16-17 emtpy. Very reliable truck to this day. |

Location: Oklahoma | We had an 05. LOVED that dang truck and miss it. I would delete your EGR if you get it... we deleted ours and ran a tune on it. Hubby is a diesel mechanic, so ours ran great. |

| My parents have a 2005 2500 Duramax with 106k miles on it for sale. I love this truck and wish I could get my diesel traded off and buy theirs as it pulls my 4h aluminum w/ partial lq so much better then my Ford does. Pulling their truck averages around 15-16 mpg and driving it gets 20-22 mpg. I don't think you would be disappointed with the truck |

| I have a 2005 GMC with a Duramax now with 142k miles on it. I love it as much today as the day I bought. It is my daily commuter as well. I think it has plenty of power and the ride is smooth. Personally, after having driven all three "main" pickups with a Duramax, Cummins, and PowerStroke - I think the older Cummins has the best pulling power out there, then the Duramax, and then the Powerstroke if I had to rank them in order. But - you get a much smoother ride with the GMC pickup and I wanted the power and a nice ride. Don't hate the Powerstroke and those new Ford Chassis are a SMOOTH ride but just not a fan of the PS engines. As for my '05, on average for a daily commuter I get 16-18 mpg and I run Power Service additive in it year round to help keep my injectors clean. I think it does increase my mileage slightly but not likely enough to justify the cost but I use it for aforementioned injector cleaning. I only pull a 2-3 horse slant and it pulls awesome. And I use it for getting winter wood as well and it has plenty of power. Pulling my trailer I get 15-16 mpg loaded with two horses, lower than that if I pull a lot of hills. Empty on the highway anywhere from 22-24 mpg and that is if I keep it at the sweet speed - 60 mph, If I go up to 65-70 mph on the freeways then it drops considerably. Anyone who says they get 25-30 mpg needs to have their computer reset as it's not working properly - no one gets that kind of mileage from a 7,000 lb. pickup. I bought mine for $27k with 33,000 miles on it - I still adore it. Good luck to you! |

Location: KS | I have and 06 GMC. Actually between my folks and brothers we have 7 of them, ranging from 02-06. Going with the 06 you get the 6 speed Allison transmission, anything older than 05 you have to watch injectors. My brother installed programmers on all of them but my moms and we get 20-21 going down the road, 16-17 pulling, depending on the load. We like them. My hubby is all Ford. |

Location: Roping pen | Injectors are issues on the early 05s. Make sure they have been replaced or that the pu was made in late 05.
The one we had was made late 05 and up to 130k of fairly heavy (18k) pulling, never had an issue. Brother in law had 2 05s, both late 04 manufacture dates, and he had injector issues on both.
Mileage was 18 empty and 8-9 pulling. Had an Edge programmer that really woke it up. |
