Location: Iowa | Wondering if anyone can give me info on Mini Aussies/ A friend of mine sells them and I am wanting to get a pup from her spring litter. I have a standard aussie now (whom I adore) but am looking for more of a lap dog, cuddle, yet active dog to take with me on the road. My aussie is a lap dog but she fills the lap and then some. Are mini's temperment and personality the same as the full size? How big do they get? Same ease in training? Anything anyone can tell me is appreciated. I recently lost my sweet Cocker and am looking for something to ease my pain of loosing her. Thanks for your help! |

| My sister breeds Standards, but bought a mini several years back. Pete ended up being the size of a small standard and a not quite as active as the Standards. His head was shaped just like a standard, too. Some of the minis can have a bigger forehead. He was a cool dog. |

Location: Cap'n Joan Rotgut.....alberta | I have 2...a red merle male and a blue merle female..the male is very cuddly and im 100% sure he understands English and the female is way more hyper and im told the dogs with the longer nose are prone to be more hyper...which she has as compared to the male he has the short stubby nose....she is very cuddly as well but only with me where as fat dog will cuddle anybody...lol.....m |

Location: California | We had one that was probably considered a toy size. She was SUPER smart. She was also very hyper and needed a lot of exercise. Fortunately we live on 11 acres, so she got to run around and get all her energy out. Also had great herding instinct! She loved to run & jump in my arms & would lick my face off. LOL. I want another one again someday, as this sweet girl passed away. |

| This is my Tucker, he is 8 and about 14 inches. I call him my little stalker , he stays on my heels everywhere I go, does not need to be on a leash although I will leash him to follow rules. Very very smart. He went with me to the last barrel race I had a tack trailer there said no dogs inside I can telling to sit and stay and he will not move till I release him, no formal training -just gets it. He is very antisocial -does not like anybody outside our family, he is not aggressive but does not want strangers petting him, he is not interested in playing with other dogs outside our family. So easy to travel with and take places since he never leaves my side.

Location: Running my kids somewhere. | I raise and show minis. The standards are 14-18 inches tall and 20-31 pounds. You will see some with more of a dome head and high ear set. I have seen this more whenthey try to breed them down in size; more towards a toy size.
I have standards and minis-one is just a better lap dog. As far as the temperment and personalities, they are the same.

| I have a mini and a toy. I love those two dogs like crazy!!! The mini is much more active and loves to be outside and has more "herding" instinct. She can be cuddly but likes to have her space too. She is a lot of fun to be around! My toy has about the opposite personality lol. She is lazy, could lay on the couch all day and not care haha. She does have her active moments and likes to play and run around, but mostly she is quiet and just chills out. Overall I would have a million of them if I could!!  |

Location: 100 miles from Nowhere, AR | We got a mini for our daughter's first dog last spring. She has all the fun and personality of a standard in a travel size package. I have never seen my husband this crazy over a dog. She's 10 months old and 14". |

Location: on the fine line between insanity and geniusness | I have a red Merle mini and wouldn't trade her for the entire world. I'm pretty sure she can read and write. She is very protective and very loving of HER people. She doesn't really care for people outside her circle. She's not mean, just not concerned with them! She's loving but not clingy... and she's beyond smart. She has been all over the world with me. The only drawback?!? I wear hair like an accessory! |

Location: Silver Lake, MN | I have one and love him dearly...I will own another. His family is not strong herding instinct which is what I wanted. He loves everyone and is very social. Loves to play but is quiet in the house. He is deaf and so he goes off hand signals and pays attention to his people. I will own another one!! Plus he is only 20lbs very easy to travel with. |

Location: The edge of no where | Love love LOVE my little aussies! They have 'their' people that they really bond with. I pretty much go most places with 2 little stalkers. Very similar in temperment to a standard aussie. Super smart and easy to train. |

Location: MN | Love my female mini Aussie! Went from standard to mini to travel with us. Very loyal but not overly cuddly which is fine with me but loves to ride in the pickup or car. Hook the horse travel up and she won't leave it. Loves to go camping with us and the horses. If I know how to post a picture of her I would but sadly I don't know how. |

Location: Central Washington | Love mine! He is very attached to my family, and pretty shy with strangers at first. Works cows, and is as cute as can be!
I also ended up with an oops litter of mini aussie/blue heeler pups and kept one.....and he is the best dog ever!!!

Location: Pacific Northwest | We love ours. We have two minis and a toy. They get along great with our cats, two german shepherds, and don't chase the cows/horses. They LOVE to go for rides, they love going outside, and they love lounging in the house. Pretty much they just want to do whatever you're doing!
The minis are about 30lbs and our toy is about 15lbs (he's old and chunky lol). |

Location: west of East Texas | I've had standard Aussies for years and made the switch to mini/toy for the cuddle aspect also. My regular Aussies tended to be on the 60+ pound size! My minis have mirrored my standards in personality. Some are outgoing, spunky, enegetic and 'driven' to work or perform. Then I've had a couple that absolutely had no use for anyone but ME and were kind of scared of their own shadow! I specifically shopped around for herding instinct and went to breeders that actually used their dogs. The current mini is two and she's not interested in anything that would require an outgoing personality. She loves ME and follows/minds me but listens to no one else. That doesn't really bother me but it sure bothers the family. She doesn't care to travel but is well behaved once we get there. The one before this had a strong need to work and waited anxiously for the next command, from anyone. They are both cool dogs with their own personalities and good traits, but not the SAME dog at all. |
