I know we have kind of talked about this several times but I am wondering if you are going to be stalling on hard ground/concrete often is it more cost efficient and better for the horse to buy a boot
(cloud or safe ride
) or mats and lots of shavings each time? I know mats can be a real pain but am willing to do extra work if it is better in the long run. Opinions

I don't stall a whole lot, but when I go places like World where they'll be stalled for a week straight essentially on concrete, I bring mats. They're a PITA but if you think about it, the mats provide padding when the horse is laying down as well as when they're standing. Boots only help when they're standing.

Whenever I go to somewhere with concrete stalls like Perry, I put down like 4-6 bags on pellet shavings and then put regular shavings on top of that. I never see the concrete and I dont have to mess with hauling mats

This is what I do. The pelleted bedding is heavier and packs really well against the concrete and stays under the fluffier regular bedding.
