Weather you like it or not can we all tweet Trump and get the inspectors back into the horse kill plants. This overload that the horse market is in needs to be fixed. This is truely the humane way to do it.

He obviously doesn't have anybody advising him on the potential impact to the agriculture markets.  I'm a Trump supporter but Everything he has done so far has been to the detriment of the ag in the USA.  I hope long term, he can pull it off.  I think it would be wonderful, but I highly doubt it would happen.

Could the inspectors be initiated from the state level?

Probably not high on his list of priorities given that North Korea and Iran are working diligently to develop an ICBM capable of reaching the U.S.         Friday was "Death to America" day in Iran.   How festive........

I thought Obama restored this in 2011???

From my understanding Obama didn't sign the law back to outlaw horse slaughter, I think the previous one expired? But there is still no funding within the USDA to pay the inspectors for the plants. That's where the problem is. I know there was a lot of talk in the last couple years here in Missouri about opening up a plant. So far it hasn't happened but it was to be in Southwest MO. Hopefully some will get opened up around the country. We need them.

Some one can correct me if I am off on my understanding (about the funding not the need of them)

The plants are Ok ... just FDA inspectors assigned to them when approved ...
it would be a 2 minute deal for him to OK INSPECTORS...

Give it a try and if his office has an email ... share it and we will all participate
with very nice words ... you can give us the words to use too!!

We could all remind our state ag people to ask the feds to get it on!!!!
lol

Actually, as of last night he has not been confirmed yet.  They are waiting on the FBI background check before the confirmation hearings.  LOL

I thought that was crazy as he was also our governor.

Must be frustrating to be in that position and still not matter, because Trump isn't going to listen.

Ok I will bite. What has he done in three weeks that has been a detriment to Ag. I sure don't see anything yet.

It was my understanding that the funds for the inspectors is the hold up. Lets start by sending our message to Sonny and to Trump that this needs to get fixed. I know that Trump has a lot on his plate but this also needs to be on his plate.

Look at NAFTA & TPP.  The markets react to speculation.  They are trying to figure out what to do with an extra 2.5bil net lbs of meat/poultry.  The duties on beef that will make Australia too competative in the Asia markets.
