ive tried for 6 years every supplement I could all would help for a short time and then back to the normal ulcer symptoms- ive changed my feed to renew gold and alfalfa pellets and molasses free beet pulp- no ulcer supps meds or anything and it has been wonderful I had to have surgery on my boy recently and I figured that woulsd for sure send me back to square one - but nope he never missed a meal and looks great and isn't showing any ulcer signs!!!- dr. depalo from horse hair analysis has some great info on his sight about ulcers and that's where I learned what to feed- I highly recommend

That is wonderful. But doesn't mean any of the supplements didn't work. Most of the time people will have ulcer issues forever until they are willing to look at their own feeding program. I wish more people understood that ulcers are caused by so many things, but it really seems grain products cause the most issues.

Please forgive my ignorance, but what are the typical symptoms of hind gut ulcers?

So many things, but from my customer's experience-hind end lameness. Very subtle. Colic type symptoms, sore over loin area, loose poo. It seems to be something people look into after they have treated for gastric with maybe some improvement but not complete recovery. So they treat for hind gut next. There are few products out there that actually work on hind gut ulcers.
Found this doing a google search, a good read actually.

The reason THE GastroPLUS works so well, is because it has nutrients that help create it's own natural mucous lining. No masking the issue, it actually allows the body to fix itself. Short of prevention, hindgut ulcers and acidosis are best treated through digestive support supplements – feed additives that promote overall gut health. Most of these digestive support supplements contain natural ingredients designed to sooth, reduce inflammation and promote a healthy pH balance and foster the presence of beneficial gut microbes
