| Have no idea but this was an interesting observation I made yesterday. Green grass is really growing around my house and I always let my horses munch on it for 10 minutes or so every evening. Yesterday i walked them over to some tall green grass that was growing out of some piles with a little horse manure. THey would not touch it with a 10' pole!! LOL But when I took them over to other green grass they ate it like it was last supper. I just wonder if they know it was grown with manure? Who knows. |

Yep, they won't eat there until next year. At least that is what my uncle told me when I was a kid. We would always have lush green spots in the pasture and the horses would not touch it because there were old manure piles in there. |

He wasn't a horse either
I've noticed my horses do the same in the pastures we don't drag.
OP- I would think it's ok as long as the pigs weren't on any medicated feed? Even then idk if it would matter since it's decomposed? You could check with your extension office?

Location: Fort Worth / Springtown | I am not sure about that....but it reminds me of someone I know who moved their horses onto what used to be a pig farm, but they did not know this when they purchased the place.
They had a pregnant mare, who lost her foal and when they found out it used to be a pig farm, they attributed it to that, and said that it was supposed to have been communicated to them that it used to be a pig farm.
The details are fuzzy, because this was about 10 years ago and I have not heard anything about it, since then. Has anyone else? |

Oh..maybe run it by a vet? In the end, I'd rather be safe than sorry so if you don't get any answers I'd pass on it :-/ |

| We raise hogs and rent our neighbor's pig nursery. He spreads the manure from the nursery on his hay fields/pasture a lot. It's more watered down than a finishing hog barn's manure would be. He has done this for years. He has Clydesdales and the wife had a couple of Arabians. Never any issues. |
