Has anyone had a horse get cranky from wearing a BOT blanket?  I've been leaving it on about 3-4 hours for about 3 weeks.  After a few days, she would kind of turn her head and nip at me while I was taking it off.  Last night, she dang near succeeded in biting me.   She's done some other things - overly flighty, anxious, run out of her stall when she wasn't supposed to, etc...  that tell me that she doesnt care for it.  I'm not going to use it anymore but I was wondering if anyone else had this result?

No I have never had one act that way. BOT usually relaxes a horse. She may be sore and the increased blood flow to that area is bothering her. You might also try using it during the cooler part of the day. It does increase heat.

I have one that will not eat while wearing a PHT blanket. Out of 9-10, she's the strange one.

I can tell when my gelding has had enough of it. He gets real anxious and agitated. He's doing better as I slowly increase the time he wears it, but he will let me know when he's had enough.

Did you slowly ease into using it or did you put it on for that long starting out?

It's very possible that it's too much too soon.

A friend of mine had her horse get colicky each time she tried the BOT blanket.   She sold it.

That's really odd behavior just from wearing a blanket. What special powers does this blanket possess?

I've know 2 people who have used them and both horses started to colic. It was in the summer and in addition to the blanket they had the leg wraps on also, so I'm pretty sure it was just being over heated that caused it. So you may want to be sure she's not too hot in it. If she has a full winter coat then she may be.

My horse acts like that with a quality magnetic poll band. He loves his BOT. Each animal reacts differently to different therapy. The rest of my horses have no problems with magnetic products. If she keeps having the same reaction over and over I wouldn't use it on her, I would try magnets or some other therapy.
