Has anyone used Pathogenes (Dr Ellison)  test and got a positive MPP (antibody to myelin protein)  & an elevated CRP (c reactive protein); but the "EPM" portions come back negative?
Or  have any insight on this ?
im calling the lab tomorrow, just got results today.

Did you do the Lyme disease test also?

?I had a gelding that I was sure had EPM but he tested negative in two different tests over two years.  When I had him tested for Lyme, he was high positive on it and CRP, and this time around he showed a slight positve for EPM.

Yes---have High CRP tests but negative for EPM (but treated just to be sure), negative for Lyme. Chasing the diagnosis of "inflammation" somewhere. Did the dexamethasone alternating neuroquil for a month test and still had high CRP. Got the possible MPP positive result. What's next???? Sorry not much help--in the same boat---

My gelding dying of EPM didn't register a single elevated titer on four separate tests. Ran the Pathoges tests, all of them. CRP came back at 92/100. Against veterinary opinion (no friction on them, there were several) I began treatment with Protazil. In two weeks I had a different horse. In 6 weeks the veterinarian denied that was the same horse. 6 months later, I have my horse back.

Just because they don't register on the titer testing, doesn't mean that EPM isn't running rampant in their system.

EPM testing only reflects the immune response. If there isn't a response, there's no indication. Mine literally was in the process of rolling over and dying, and within just a few days of treatment with strong medicine turned around.
