I don't want to screw up!

Location: North Dakota -> Colorado | Is it even possible to meal prep for while I'm college rodeoing? I'm struggling with how exactly I can pack food without letting it spoil over the course of the 4 days that we are gone due to limited space (especially in hotel rooms). Does anyone have any tips or plans that they follow while on the road? |

| I have to have food. I take food everywhere I go--even to small local barrel races when I am not sure that there will be a concession stand. I usually take sandwich stuff from easy to more difficult. Easy includes either pimento cheese or peanut butter and jelly. The more difficult are cold cuts and cheese with lettuce and tomato. I cut up the lettuce and tomato and put them in plastic containers so I can just slap them on the sandwich. We had some fabulous wrap things at the vet the other day but the recipe is in another jacket. Will get the recipe if you want it. I think you could make those in advance and they would travel well. If we are going to stay several days, I fix a couple of casseroles so we don't get tired of the same thing. I usually make a breakfast casserole or get those pre-made sausage and biscuit or croissant things. Like I said, I have to have food, so I have this down to a fine art. My sandwiches are the bomb. GOOD ice chest with plenty of ice. I take an ice chest everywhere i go even to teacher meetings. My favorite is a Coleman with the steel outside. My trainer gave me a small Yeti for Christmas and it is nice but that Coleman is the bomb, just kind of big. |

| Yep I was going to say a good cooler like an RTIC or Yeti.
I love apples and PB. Overnight oatmeal makes a good filling breakfast and it stays good longer than just overnight if kept cold. Snack bars.
Really depends how many meals you're trying to prep for, but when I go to 3 or 4 day races I usually only eat once at a concession stand (if it's a good one, a couple places I go have excellent food not your typical crock pot hot dog) and if I have friends going we go out to eat one night. |

Location: Deep South | Yes, with a cooler and microwave it's definitely possible. Pinterest is your best friend! Just search meal prep. You can make all kinds of different muffins for breakfast. Egg muffins, oatmeal muffins, etc etc. Throw them in a container eat a couple each morning. Easy on-the-go breakfast.
Lunch/dinner is super easy. Pre-cook any meat/veggie combo you want put it in a tupperware container, good to go for 3-4 days. Make a big batch of soup, freeze in small containers, re-heat single servings. Chicken salad. Possibilities are endless.

Just a suggestion, do not make sandwiches ahead of time. The bread gets mushy. |

| Hard boiled eggs, pouches of tuna or salmon. Whole grain tortillas. Fruit like apples, oranges, bananas. I put smoothie ingredients in a jar and then just add water or juice, spinach, and blend. |
