Location: South TX | I have a corriente and it seems a tiny bit wide for my 3 year old. Im looking to buy another saddle pad but im not sure which one to get.
Any opinions? How thick do yall recommend.

| I have had 5 stars in the past but found the Boyou west pads to be just as good. Have you looked at the Tocolat T3??? Those are a heck of a pad!!!! But like close to 400. Not for me but they sure look like they get the job done. |

Their not that expensive, lol. I had to google them since I never heard of these, pretty cool looking pads, the most expensive that I saw was about 260.00..But love my 5 Stars |

| I am always on a budget so...I would try a saddle blanket under your pad...either a single or a double depending on what you think you need...you can use a hand towel as shim too...that's where I would start before hemorrhaging $$ on saddle pads for a colt who's body will be changing...in the end you may need a thicker pad... |

1/2 is pretty thin, I would go with a 3/4 or maybe a 7/8 just depends on how much room you have..The 5 Stars are the best in my books but they are a little on the expensive side, maybe see if you can find a Tod Slone pad they are a bit cheaper and pretty nice pads. Since your horse is only a 3 year old hes going to be filling out more, so maybe some inexpensive pad untill hes finish filling out, maybe get another thin pad and use it under the pad you have now. Are if money is not an issue go with a 5 Star, but talk with a 5 Star dealer about the fit of your saddle and that dealer would be Deanna on here shes RockyRoad.. I know there used ones out there too.. |

Location: North Dakota | I'm a fan of 5 Star pads. I agree that if you saddle is a smidge wide for your 3 year old, you could do with a 3/4" or a 1". Of course, he's going to grow and fill out more.
Or you could also shim your current pad. I've used these before on a horse that I only had for a few months (to put some rides on) and my saddle was just a little bit too wide for him.
