| I'm looking at purchasing a pair of nettle stirrups in the near future. I'm having a hard time deciding which ones to get. I'd like a pair I can use for both all around trails, team penning, and barrel racing?
What to get!? |

Again, I buy mine used from Teskey's because I'm cheap. BUT I was luck enough to find a 6 ply half breed used from them and snatched them right up! I highly recommend them. Money well spent!! But the ones you posted are not the half breeds. The half breeds set themselves apart from the rest of the Nettle lines especially for barrel racing. |

The ones I posted are the flatbottoms. Yes, I do reccomend the half breeds. However, if the OP wanted to try them for a bargain before buying she could try the 6 ply.
The halfbreeds are a flatbottom tread with oxbow sides. Hence the name halfbreed. I figured if OP was on a budget or didn't want to spend the money for a new 6 ply upfront OP could try out these without losing much money. OP could easily resell stirrups to someone for $50 or more if they did not like them. or if they would rather have the halfbreeds they could get their money back easy at this price. Was trying to be helpful.

| I use the Flatbottom, regular, 1.5" tread width. I will add, both pairs of my Nettles were hand me downs. I've never had to shell out the $$ for them personally. I think it's really hard to replicate the quality of true Nettles. |

Teskey's carries turquoise, pink, and other colors of the halfbreeds. They aren't online but I've seen them on their display.
Just kidding... They are the barrel stirrups... Not halfbreeds... They have a rubber tread grip. Nettles has them advertised in pink, turquoise, purple, and of course varnished. I don't remember them being so expensive at Teskey's tho. http://nettles-stirrups.com/product/the-barrel-racer/

The halfbreeds are designed to take the pressure off the side of your foot and take the torque off of your knees so you can ride comfortably for hours. The new barrel racer Nettles is the halfbreed with a skid tread added and is available in funky colors.
There is no comparison between an oxbow and the halfbreeds.
I quite using rubber bands when I purchased the halfbreeds because I no longer needed them as these stirrups are so well balanced. I still had to use rubberbands with the crooked and slanted stirrups. Another plus is when you are carrying your saddle and you don't have a metal stirrup banging against your shins. |

ETA: All Nettles are designed to take pressure off your knees. Not just the Halfbreeds. This is why I suggest the 6ply. More cushion.
