Osphos - What's next?

Hello -
I have a mare recently diagnosed slight Navicular and a bone cyst. We gave her Osphos about 8 weeks ago and haven't seen any improvement. I'm just wondering what else you have done for navicular horses and if there is anything else you would try. I think she would need to be nerved so low that it wouldn't be an option to run her that way, and I'm not quite sure that is the direction I would want to go any way. I'm thinking it's time for her to retire, but it is just so hard. She is 1D/2D 10 year old mare and was really hitting her stride. Absolutely no vices and a horse you really only dream of.
Thank you!

There is a lot of controversy in nerving, however, just as a comparison, my mom went to the NFR 4x on a horse that had been nerved twice. It isin't always an end all option. BUT there are things like previcox you can give daily that is much safer than bute etc. I'm sure you will get some great advice on here.

Back on Track bell boots overnight seem to help my horse with a navicular issue.

Has this horse had coffin joint or navicular bursa injections?
If not I would start with coffin joint injections + shoeing changes. Always save the navicular bursa as a last resort injection but if the horse does not respond to coffin joint injections then that is another thing you could try.

Thank you all for your recommendations. I have not had coffin joint or navicular bursa injected. I will look into this though and talk with my vet.

Back when I was a tech we were only doing Tildren IV via catheter- now my vet says they can do a limb profusion
(bascally apply a turniquet to fetlock so Tildren stays in lower foot when injected into artery in pastern.
) A lot cheaper than 1200 bucks for Tildren through a catheter!

Try another dose or 2 of Osphos. We had to give a 2nd dose and it made a big difference. I have a friend who didn't notice improvement until 3rd dose, but it did make a noticeable difference. Good Luck.
