| I feel like most of my horses have grown pretty to their full adult height by 4 and then continue to grow in width. Although I'm hoping this is not the case with my current 4 year old. Her sire is 14.3 and I'm thinking she took after him because I measured her today at only 14.1!! I was hoping for a little more height, 14.3 would be fine. I feel like I'll be running a pony though if she stays 14.1.  |

| I have a gelding who grew another 3 inches in height when he was 8 years old! And wider too. :) |

Location: Willows, CA | I always felt that mares grow through their four year old year, and geldings through five. Stallions six. |

Location: Southeast, Texas | We have a mare that grew SIX inches between 4 and 6. She didn't fill out and look mature until six either. She looked like a daddy long legs! She's finally a pretty horse!  |

I have a gelding who grew another 3 inches in height when he was 8 years old! And wider too. :)
I has a mare and both her babies, who grew several inches. She and her daughter between 7 and 8 and her son is now 6 and still growing. His daddy was about 14.2 and his momma around 15.1 when she got done. He is closing in on 16 hands! I was told that it is impossible, that growth plates close, but the tape measure doesn't lie. So "maybe" you will get some more height. |

| We had a mare that was 15.2 when we got her at the end of her 2 year old year and was pushing 16.3 as a 4 year old when we sold her. She was still high in the hip and lanky when we sold her, I hope the lady who purchased her likes giraffe's |

Location: North Dakota | My gelding grew another inch when he was 5 or 6 (can't quite remember the timeline). I had measured him at 16 hands and then I checked a year later and he was 16.1 hands. |

Location: Texas | Horses aren't fully grown until six years of age on average so it's very likely your mare will get taller. |

| I would say the big spurt happened at 5, but it wasn't till about 7 until he widened out. |

| I have always heard from the old timers that they grow until 5 and spread until 7. That has held true for all of ours. |
