Location: AZ | I remember seeing a post of pictures of a horse community and the bb that posted lived in a metal home attached to her barn. Would love to learn more about that? Does anyone know of any horse communities and how it really works out where you buy your property but have shared arena and trails? |

Don't know what it's called, but there's a nice horse community in Morgan Mill, just outside of Stephenville. |

That's the one!! I looked at a few places there that were very reasonable for what they were, especially considering you get the arena usage! I would kill to live somewhere like that! |

Location: AZ | Im curious how it is living with all those rules? I understand they are there for everyones protection but looking at the Horsemans Ranch rules, someone actually called them Nazi like. Not my word but that definitely got me concerned.

Think of it this way: A neighbor moves in that is unexperienced with horses but wants to ride in the arena going 9-Oh and wants to ride trails the same way. Why? To prove they can ride and that they fit into the "horse community". Many people who live in communities like this are not educated on saftey at all or are overly educated on safety and are nazi-like and judgemental when you do things your own way. Sometimes you'll find people that are both educated on horses as well as safety and who are non judgnmental about your choices and how you ride, feed, and live.
How many opinions do you read about one certain subject on here a day? Hundreds... now picture the person who doesn't agree with you and your feeding program, choice of supplements, riding style, or lifestyle being your neighbor. Now picture that neighbor calling the HOA every two seconds on you....
I wouldn't want to live in a community like this.... I don't care how nice the arena and trails are...

My thoughts too, I would not want to live under others rules.. It would be less stressful buying your own land and making your own arena.. I think these horse communitys have more non horsey people then the real horsey people in them. Mostly made up of ya-hoos Thats just my thoughts on a horse community.. |

Location: East Texas | I like the concept. Good, economical way to have land to ride and arena to use. This will most likely give easy access to farriers, vets, etc. If where we lived was not so rural and I thought I could get 30 or so lots sold, I would build one. Might be a good combo between country living and being in a neighborhood.
I have a friend that built this concept, but around TB racing. |

We have a couple of airparks like this and one is down the road from us, everybody has their own hangers built in their yards and theres a landing strip that they all share.. It was so strange to us at first, in this neightborhood they would drive their planes down the streets to get to the air strip..Its really a cool place and kept so tidy n neat not a thing is out of place in this community.. |

Location: Fort Worth | I personally live in one of these communities in Fort Worth. My husband is not a horse guy, so I love living here. We have 2.5 acres and a great arena with lights. The trails are not what I consider "trail riding" as I come from a place that has mountains and hills, but it is nice to get the horses worked outside of the arena. We have barrel racers, jumpers, dressage, reiners and just plain old want to enjoy your horse type of people. The rules are not excessive:
1. Limit 4 horses
2. No livestock besides horses
3. No commercial businesses like training or breeding farms permitted
We offer vaccine clinics in the spring and fall with local vets. Everyone uses different farriers. There is a giod network of people to help if you ever get in a bind though.
Are there people you just plain don't want to deal with that live here? Of course! But that is in any neighborhood. The majority of the people are down to earth and very friendly. Our goal is to keep the equestrian interested individuals on the BOD. It is not for everyone, but it works for us. |

This sounds like the perfect setup for me!!
If you don't mind me asking, what are the HOA fees for a place like this? |
