| Ok...so per my other post, my horse is on stall rest now for two weeks. Only on the second day today, and he is being an absolute HELLION in his stall. He is going to hurt himself, and/or tear down the stall! He was prescribed 1 ace pill twice a day...and it is NOT helping. So I just called my vet, and she told her asst. to tell me to up him to........4 PILLS TWICE A DAY! I made sure I clarified that...not 4 pills TOTAL....8 PILLS TOTAL!! I don't know about you guys...but in my experience, isn't that an overdose? I have never given a horse more than 3 pills...and even that was really pushing it. I cannot imagine 4 pills a session...8 a day! Does that seem normal to you? Sorry about the rant...I am just baffled! Thank you guys! |

Location: Somewhere across the SABINE | I have never used it in pill form, but you can always try 2 pills twice per day, then gradually move up if needed.
What is the dosage on the pills

| How Many Mg per pill? I have never used it either but I know some folks with really high strung horses that give 3-5cc ACE IV!!!!!!!!! SOme horses just metabolize it differently. |

| Oh wow 5cc!? That's a very good point you guys...I guess I didn't check how many mg the pills are...I don't have them with me, and I just checked my receipt and all it says is 100ct of ace =/ I'll check for how many mg the pills are when I get to the barn. I'm going to sound dumb...but I just assumed all the pills = 1cc? |

5cc will drop most horses to the ground!!! I have seen someone give 2ccIV and had zero effect. I have one horse that HALF cc IV is enough to knock him out for hours. SOme are just really sensitive to it. |

Location: WI | NO - you need a longer lasting sedative. Ask for Reserpine. |

Location: Under The Big Sky Of Texas | I would be trying a supplement, like b1 crumbles or Magnesium to see if maybe that would take the edge off a little, does he have a buddy next to him? how long on the stall rest? |

| Very true!! I guess they do all respond differently =] I asked for a longer lasting sedative...and she still wants me to try this for a couple days. So we'll see how upping the dose goes. Great idea! I'll look in to getting some mag and b1 crumbles. As of right now, stall rest for 2 weeks. Then she will re-check his tendon, if there is still swelling, then he will be on stall rest longer. Could be 2 weeks, could be a couple months, we aren't sure yet =/ Great advice guys! Thank you so much <3 I'm a lot less panicky now haha |

Location: Where the pavement ends and the West begins Utah | Forget the ace.hot, high horses will go berserk on that sh## you'll get the opposite effect, like on steroids! It only works if the horse is asleep to begin with. I hope you understand what I am saying. You are better off in giving magnesium and B1 for sedative. Find something else. Please don't give the horse any ace at all ,shoot it in the dirt. |
