I just thought I had read somewhere that DFC bred horses sometimes had trouble tolerating sugar in their diet....can't remember the details. Was hoping for someone who knows a lot about that bloodline to fill in the gaps or set me straight. I will tell Gabbie you say hi! Gonna send you a pic of her and her that I think you will enjoy...if I can do it on my phone. |

| Ran Dash for Cash on Bridge Equine - if I'm reading it correctly he's got foals out there positive for pssm2?
That would explain the sugar intolerance. |

Location: Kansas | Sugar intolerance could mean PSSM, you would need a high fat/low starch & sugar diet |

Location: Peg-Leg Julia Grimm | I don't know if DFC is a suspect in PSSM. It doesn't have to be him. It could be the mares he was bred to.
PSSM1 is the type that is intolerant to sugar/high starch diets. PSSM2 with all the other variants (2, 3, 4, 5 and X) are not as sensitive to sugar/starch but need a balanced protein with all the essential amino acids provided. Race bloodlines are more likely to have the PSSM2, 3, 4 and Px variants. Not P1. There's a facebook page called PSSM Forum for people who want to learn more. |
