Location: North Dakota | The back tack in my Platinum trailer has a carpeted saddle rack. The carpet is starting to wear away at the top point of each saddle stand and is starting to scrape on the bottom of my saddles if you try to pull them out vs lift them off the rack. Its quite sharp, and can do some damange if i'm not extra careful. Anyone have any ideas how to improve that area? I considered getting some glue on patches that you can use to mend jeans? Not sure how long they will last before the edges start to lift up or come unglued, etc.

| I'd pull the racks out, remove what's left of the old carpet, screw 1x6 boards to them, and sand the edges. Then if you want carpet on them you can construction glue appropriately sized remnants to the wood. |

Location: The best kept secret in TX | Pull the carpet. Go to Home depot or lowes and find a carpet that's on sale. Not the cheap thin stuff. But a good thick carpet that's on sale and get you enough for the racks. It's cheap since you only need a bit. Recover the racks and you'll be good as new. The carpet they use on the racks to begin with is too thin. Thicker carpet will last longer. |

You're welcome. It sounds like a lot of work but after you finish recovering that first rrack, the rest go really quickly. Pinterest has great ideas. There are a few groups on facebook with good pointers too if you get stuck. Once I took the old carpet off and figured out how it was done it took me no time at all for the other three. |

Yes, the carpet on the front plate has pulled away and the top carpet is peeled back. So now where the front plate meets the top, there is a 90 degree angle of sharp aluminum that rubs the bottom of my saddles when I pull them down. And just learned last night my saddle rack is welded in. So this could be an interesting project... |

haha no thankfully the plates are still in tact. Just the carpet peeling back and exposing the metal. I'll snap a better picture tonight |

Location: Under The Big Sky Of Texas | For a fast fix I would wrap the edges in duct tape really thick so I would not be scaring the underside of my saddles untill you can get them fixed the right way. |

| If this were me...
I would take them out and replace with the hard plastic version!
Easy cleaning.
Plus I am not as crafty as everyone else on this board. If I tried to repair this it would be a patchwork situation. |
