What is your vaccination and deworming program for your foals?

Due to anti-bodies in colostrum I do not give any shots to foals
until they are a full 6 months old.

Also I give my broodmares a tube of ivermectin 10-14 days prior
to foaling to clean out their worms due to foals having to eat some
of their dams poop within 36 hours to get their good gut bacteria
going to digest whole foods and be healthy. This keeps them
literally worm free since they have no worm eggs etc in their system.

At six months old .. first worming is for round worms with a wormer
with the P WORD as the meds .... no safeguard or panacure .. worthless

In 30 days they get a tube of ivermectin for bots and clean out the
remaining round worms.

At six months I give the vaccines that actually create immunity...
TRIPLE EFT ...>>> tetanus, EASTERN/VENESUALEN/WESTERN
encephimelytis, and it also contains Kentucky A1 // A2 virus
.... another shot at 7 months old and then start my annual boosters
on Jan 1 of each year for all my horses .. AND >>>>
none of the maybe so vaccines west nile, strangles, lyme disease etc etc ...........

Worming program happens on these holidays ...
January 1 Quest
IVERMECTIN FOR THE REST OF THE YEAR
Easter, July 4th, labor day, Halloween
and then start over with January 1 with Quest
as you can see Quest is good for 90 days ..
and the other Holidays are 60 days apart!!

A good all natural feeding program .. 6-12 lbs /day
50-50 whole oats and a good 14% sweet feed
and a half block of alfalfa for each weanling/
a block for 1-2 year olds ..
only supplement is GROSTRONG MINERALS
throw a handful in their grain ///

You will be amazed how well your youngsters will do
on this simple feed and worming program!!

I work our cattle on the holiday schedule as well. Need to move my goat herd to one too! They were infested with worms at kidding time and boy did that bring them down. So next year they will be wormed just like the mares about 20-30 days prior to kidding.

Have you had any luck with raising your babies on straight pasture and alfalfa? Minerals provided too.
