We go a lot, and as such our horses are in stalls and need to be walked regularly to keep them happy. With that being said - why do people with dogs NOT clean up after them??????? It is so frustrating and rather disgusting, to be walking and letting your horse graze, and then you have to watch where you and your horse step!!!!!! And I'm not talking about areas on the backside of the place, I'm talking about areas just outside the barns where everyone walks! Producers and facility owners would make some money if they would be able to somehow enforce 'cleaning up after your dog' rules. Our kids live in Bentonville, and in their community they are required to pick up after their dog, or they are fined. Of course - there will be those who claim 'it wasn't my dog', but for the most part, people at barrel races are nice people with integrity. Just saying................

People are lazy. Simple as that. It is disgusting though, I would much rather step in a horse pile than a dogs. If that even makes sence lol

People always think nothing applies to them.  I always pick up after my dog.  Who wants to step in dog crap?  No one.  As the other gal said, horse crap smells so much better.

When you go to NBHA World, it is pure awful.

Along with my dog doesn't need to be on a leash, this is my biggest peeve too.

So many people are lazy and don't care.. it doesn't bother them. They can't take three minutes out of their busy lives to pick up their dogs crap and throw it away.

I must have too much on my mind at runs. I've never noticed dog poop.

For those with dogs that have an issue with picking up after them - carry a baggie in your pocket, and after your dog does it's business, use the baggie like a glove, pick up the mess and throw it in a trash can. There are always trash cans around barns. It will take ~1 minute. NO ONE will think anything of it, and indeed they will truly appreciate your effort! I promise!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

He barrel races I attend have more dogs than horses. People let their dogs just crawl anywhere. The go on the concrete by the concession stand. It is partly because people don't walk their dogs when they need to go and partly because they just do not care.

First of all if the shoe fits wear it. Second, where our sign up area, the concession stand around here and the deli at Walmart are inside a building. In general, horses are not allowed in those areas.

Β I understand places where Β animals are not allowed, the op was referring to grassy areas where you graze your horse when stalling at a show. I take my dog away from hook up areas/barns to the back 40, I also clean up after my horse when tied to my trailer so my neighbor does not have to deal with it.Β
