Location: New Sharon, IA | My daughters mare just had stifle surgery to remove a piece of calcified meniscus and clean up the joint. She came out of surgery well. We are now 1 week post op and she is bearing weight on it and seems to be walking almost normal. She is on stall rest for the next 2 months. She has had a PRP injection and gets another injection in a couple weeks.
Going forward, I would like to do what I can to keep her stifles as smooth flowing as I can. She is on Adequan right now also and will probably have a round each year.
Which stifle wraps do you prefer? I've never owned any before so interested in hearing everyones opinions!

Location: Ohio girl moved to PA | I love PHT/MagnaCu ive seen great results with it, BUT my girlfriend let me borrow her stifle wraps for 2 weeks and they absolutly irritated the crap out of me. I could not get them to stay on my horse for the life of me. Granted my horse does move around a bit. He likes to step back and fourth at the trailer but hes not a pacer or anything crazy, he just likes to look around. I was constantly adjusting them and i was just so irritated. I will never buy a pair of them. I should add, these were also not NEW, they were an older style so maybe the new style fits better? or my horse just isnt made to wear them. But, i feel like if your horse isnt a statue, they dont stay. They barely stayed on in the trailer too. My friend on the other hand LOVES them. Other than that I love all PHT products! |

Location: "...way down south in the Everglades..." | I have Ice Horse stifle wraps. I have never tried PHT stifle wraps. I do like the Ice Horse for heat and swelling. PHT of course is not ice, so you are dealing with magnetic therapy. Really depends on what your end goal with using stifle wraps are as they both have their purposes but IMO they are two completely different products for semi-different uses. I think based on your post you are looking for more of long term therapy and not just ice therapy so PHT would likely be your better bet for long term use. I use the Ice Horse wraps after a run or if there's noticable heat/swelling.
As with any stifle wraps I'd imagine, some of these horses are not a fan of them. They stay on good with a quiet horse, but if you have one wiggling around...well, not so much. What I did with my mare (that's not a fan), I'd put her on cross ties for 20 minutes just icing and then take them off. If I let her loose in the stall she had them all disheveled. |
