Thank you Chandler's Mom :) I really do and have realized there's only one way to get better. I get stuck in mental ruts so having other people look in helps me a lot

idk if this has been suggested yet, but i was at the RFM show and stoneboro yesterday and saw yall and your saddle did not look to fit him at all. Which is going to cause problems.. Your saddle pad isnt the best either. Please dont take this as me being mean, im just trying to help. He definitly needs slowed down and taken off the barrels. Im not sure where youre excatly located but, Talk to a local trainer and see if you can haul in a couple days a week and get advice while being taught so you know how to fix things. I still do this and both my horses have been trained already. It never hurts to get more help. Hes trying to escape pain, have you had him chiro'd or massaged lately? I would def look into that as well! Good luck!! I know its so frustrating.

Not taking as mean at all. I purchased that saddle for my mare that's a wide backed barrel. Orange saddle pad is more of a lookin at pad since there's no real padding to it and I had a felt pad with a build up pad under the front. His top line was extremely weak, he has the nickname shark fin for that reason. Chiro is on the next step once teeth are done next week. Spoke with a couple of people already to start going back to basics with him. Thank you for the advice :)

His top line will effect him much more than you would think! Im so glad youre trying to figure out whats wrong with your guy. Most ppl would just keep running and running without a care. He definitly looks like a very nice horse. He just needs a little help along the way. You will get it. dont give up!

Thank you! I know he has a lot of potential, we just have to work together to figure it out and tweak some things to work for us (mostly me getting use to going fast haha)

I'm going to try and attach a pic from the end of July showing his topline. He's got narrower withers and a flat back

Do you have a picture of him tacked up? Something about the way his saddle and pad looks but cant really tell from far away.

I'll have to get him out tonight and get one, I don't have one with the saddle I typically run him in. I'll get back pics too just to have

So this is rather embarrassing but someone finally took enough pictures to show how out of position I am. My feet are too far behind me in more than one picture but never touching him. The other picture is the ugly of him trying to bolt and then he's like "Oh, I needed to turn back there" and it probably hurts to turn that hard and fast for him yet.

I definitley see what you mean! He's got some high narrow withers for sure. Have you tried any supplements or upping his fat intake? When i found my guy he was 300lbs underweight and his back/top line was our biggest struggle. The only thing that worked for his was DAC bloom and oil. Ut filled him out right where he needed it instead of all going to belly. It takes a lot of work trying to get together, it took me almost a year to completely get with my guy and us fully trusting each other in our runs. Its work but so worth it. I think once you get each other figured out youre going to make a great team. Im a sucker for a blonde! haha got my own yellow pony!

Narrow withers and a flat back. They sure can't make it easy all the time can they? Feel free to yell at me if we're at the same show and see something I can try to do better! I have revamped his diet, but I didn't consider trying bloom. I'll look into that and see if I can get him filled out over winter here. It's already better than when I got him. I'm all for the work, just have to get out of my own head occasionally, which is why I'm here, I really do appreciate all the help. Thank you! (I honestly prefer bays but I'll take a good horse that shines any day lol)
